I have a core conviction: Ministry takes WORK. The people who sit around and “wait on God to do it all” are going to be sitting and waiting for a long time!

I think this conviction stems from my disdain for lazy pastors. Our staff are the most dedicated and hard working people I have ever met. I love our team!

At TCC I thank God every Sunday for somehow making everything happen during the week to pull off a great service on Sunday. Our resources are so ridiculously limited that sometimes, its just a miracle. Here is a crazy thought for ya: A typical church of 500 people would have a staff of anywhere from 7-12 people. We have a staff of 4. Now you see why its a miracle.

If you missed church yesterday, you missed some huge news that I have been dying to share for weeks! Here it is: We are bringing on our third full time Pastor! His name is Nic Burleson.

I have known Nic for about 8 years now. We used to be on a team of awesome youth ministers that put on the coolest youth camp ever. I have always admired the guy. And now, God has done something incredible and brought him on staff at TCC.

Of course, the BEST part about bringing Nic on staff is that his lovely wife, Johanna, will be here too!

We believe 100% in the strategy we use when it comes to staff: “Hire slow. Fire fast.” Taking this step with Nic has been about 6 months in the making. Cole, myself, and the Ministry Leadership Team have been dreaming, praying, and processing what it would take and mean to bring on another pastor for almost a year now, so we are pumped up that this dream has become a reality.

Nic and Johanna will be officially starting on August 17th. And I CANNOT WAIT! Check out this short video introduction to Nic:
