During the message on Sunday, I talked about three areas where it is hard to gain and easy to lose integrity, authority, and influence. The first area was forgiveness.
Andy Stanley spoke about this recently at the Catalyst Conference, which our team attended. It’s been stuck in my mind ever since.
I had several people tell me Sunday that they knew they needed to forgive somebody. The reason I spoke about forgiveness first is because it is our CORE MESSAGE. If we want to be great leaders, our lives have to line up with what we say we believe. And I don’t know about you, but Matthew 6:14-15 is reason enough for me to not harbor any unresolved junk in my life.
Way to many leaders and way to many Christians are living life carrying around past hurts. Its keeping us from impacting lives. Its keeping us from loving people. Its hurting relationships. And its hurting us.
Some of us need to get on the phone or meet someone for coffee THIS WEEK and say “I forgive you.” Then we need to get on our knees and release all the unresolved junk in our lives to God.
When we live out our belief in the fact that Jesus Christ forgave us and we are to forgive others, we can gain integrity and influence.
