- 17 people were Baptized today. It was crazy cool! I love hearing the cheers of people when someone comes out of that water more than anything. YEAH! Here is video of some of the baptisms. Sorry for all of my excited screams…wait…no I’m not!
- I literally just sat down for the first time today. Crazy. I got up at 5:30am and its 11:00pm right now.
- I fixed another neighbor’s fence and gate today. I am officially going to start CadillacZak’s Fence Company. I worked on this one for 4 hours. Yikes.
- My other neighbors came to church today for the second week. We’ve been inviting them since they moved in. Today we showed them their names on the God’s Most Wanted list and they were extremely grateful. AWESOME!
- The energy, momentum, and excitement in the second service today was off the charts. I’ll be sailing on that fuel for the entire week!
- The band did awesome today. Of course, maybe I just think that because they pretty much played my favorite 5 songs out there right now.
- I made the biggest screw-up ever in the history of TCC at the start of the first service today. Luckily, I don’t think anyone (other than staff and some team members) even knew. HAHA!
- Cole did the only thing that takes more guts than a pastor saying he’ll get a tattoo today…that is, saying that you won’t after you said you will. I am behind him 100% and I am PUMPED that The Connection Church GETS IT. Bringing eggs isn’t about Cole getting a tattoo or any dumb contest. Bringing eggs is about reaching people who are far from God! Thank you for understanding that its NOT ABOUT YOU TCC!!!
- After church naps are for wimps. I’m just saying…
- We are launching the new Connection Church website this week. Looking forward to it!
- Had a guy from church call me today with a “religious emergency.” He called and said that he had spilled the ashes of his girlfriends father and wanted to know how to properly and respectfully clean it up. My response was “dude, just get it done before she gets there!”
- Cole told me that he is going to be encouraging the staff to fast on Good Friday this week. PUMPED about that. We’ve never fasted together. More on that this week.
- Stick around this blog, cole’s blog and www.theconnectionchurch.org this week. We’ll be sharing lots of good stuff about Easter!
Sunday Mind Dump
Saturday Night Shots
- PUMPED about the awesome day it has been! Ran with my dad, hung with family, had Couper’s two year birthday party, and bought a new gun.
- PUMPED about church tomorrow! Why? Because we are doing BAPTISMS!!! YEAH! C’MON!
- PUMPED that Easter is almost here. I can’t believe how fast 2009 seems to be flying by. Its scary.
- PUMPED that our Ultimate Fighter mailer has hit. Something about inviting 50,000 people to church pumps me up!
- PRAYING that all of you connectors out there also hand out cards and give people face to face invitations. Connection Church, YOU are what helps people come and check it out…not a bunch of paper in the mail. Those mailers are blanket coverage. YOU are the paratroopers that have to go in and make it happen.
- HONORED that someone I look up to, love, and admire would take an idea of mine and make it ten times better. Why didn’t I think of using “jacked?”
Oh, and I’m am even more pumped that he is blogging again. Thank goodness… - NOT PUMPED about how whiny Couper’s party made him. MAN he is being a pain.
I still love him though. - NOT PUMPED about stuff like this. Praying for these men and their families.
I am Weak, I am Strong
Just some thoughts…
If you spend your life trying to be good at many things, you’ll nevere be great at a few things.
Society encourages us to be well-rounded and in doing so, inadvertently sets us up for lives of mediocrity.
When you strive to be the best in all areas you become a much less effective leader.
We teach “you can be anyone you want to be” when we ought to be teaching “you CANNOT be anyone you want to be but you can be a whole lot more of who you already are.”
It sounds backwards to our conditioned minds, but we have much more potential to develop and grow when we invest in our strengths rather than worrying about correcting our deficiencies.
Ink and Water
Gotta love Easter! The office smells like the ink of 25,000 direct mail pieces already sorted and waiting to go out combined with thousands of bottles of water.
It makes for some tight hallways and cluttered space, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. You can literally feel the momentum that is upon us.

Connection Church, get ready for God to do something B-I-G.
