We have a friend who takes the whole summer off (Mid May to Mid August) every 5 years. He goes to several conferences and does some other ministry related things during that time, but for the most part, he's "off" from the church and uses it as family time. He and his wife agreed that they would work this into any "contract" wherever they went. Every summer he takes at least two weeks off for just family stuff. I think it's super important. Your family needs it, too.

Lori,

3 weeks!?!?!? Awesome. How large was the church when that started? Just curious.

Thanks!

Every summer Jud gets a three week study break and a three week sabbatical back to back. I truly don't know what we would do without it. That time of renewal and family time and study time are priceless for us. They really help us get ready for the year to come.

When we have his break, we bail. We don't stay here in town. Too many pulls when we are here. So on break, we travel around visiting friends and family or just getting time to ourselves. It is great!
