Saturday Night Shots

  • PUMPED that I got to preach tonight at Everyday Christian Fellowship, one of our partner churches in Schertz, right where we’ll be planting!
  • PUMPED about doing it again tomorrow for both of their Sunday morning services
  • PUMPED that I finally got some new running shoes. Thanks Dad! Those were BADLY needed.
  • PUMPED about the awesome day we had as a family today. Got to chill at the pool, eat together, and wrestle with Couper forever. Awesome!
  • NOT PUMPED about how thrown off I feel from preaching on a Saturday night. It was just weird for me. I know pastors do it every weekend, but I had a hard time adjusting.
  • NOT PUMPED that it was 109 degrees today. YIKES.
  • NOT PUMPED about packing up this house and having to move.
  • AT THE SAME TIME, PUMPED about moving
  • NOT PUMPED that I won’t be at TCC tomorrow.
  • NOT PUMPED that my family is leaving for three weeks in about 10 days. I am in so much trouble. ugh….

8 Years

Amber and I got married pretty early in life. I was a month away from turning 20 (yes, do the math…I was only 19) and she was 21. We had a lot of people telling us it would never work, but I felt like God was saying DO IT. God sort of has a way of drowning out those other voices. So we went for it.

And my life has never been the same.

Because of the naysayers, marrying Amber was one of my first big steps of faith. That was eight years ago today and I wouldn’t change a single thing.

And of course, insert “oh my gosh you look young” honeymoon picture. As I’ve stated before right after this picture was taken I murdered the pirate for pointing that gun at me. ARRRRRRRR…

And last, I want to share right here, in public:

To Amber: You are the most amazing person I know in this world. Thank you for loving me and letting me be the leader of our family. I can’t wait to live out the rest of this life with you by my side! I am who I am in part because YOU believe in me. I will continue to pray with and for you just like I have since day one of our marriage. Our relationship is first and foremost about God. Let’s keep it that way.

I still catch myself checking you out every day when I come home for lunch and each evening when we are together. I will continue to pursue you romantically every day just like when we first met in 6th grade!

Last Saturday Night Shots?

So this could be the last edition of Saturday Night Shots for a while since tomorrow is my last official Sunday with TCC. Oh wait, I’m preaching in Schertz the following week…

  • PUMPED about slowing down for a few tomorrow and spending some time with my family. Life is go go go go right now. Can’t say that I’ve honestly focused in a few weeks.
  • PUMPED that I might even watch some baseball tomorrow. Yeah right…
  • PUMPED that I get to hear Pastor Nic Burleson preach tomorrow. Seriously, this guy can bring it. God has given Nic the gift of preaching, no doubt.
  • PUMPED about all God is doing in our lives right now. He has been loving and faithful to us in so many ways. I still don’t know many of the next steps but I do know that He is in control!
  • PUMPED about a meeting with the owner of a possible meeting space for the new church on July 1st.
  • PUMPED about my HORNS going to the National Championship. BOOOYAAAHHHH!
  • NOT PUMPED that tomorrow is my last Sunday at TCC. It is going to absolutely stink to say goodbye to so many incredible people.
  • NOT PUMPED that I will be away from Amber and Couper for almost three weeks starting July 8th. DANG that is going to STINK. No family. No church. No life.
