Honestly, this post is nothing more than a question. Can you explain to me why a lead pastor would put a disclaimer on his blog? Usually, it reads something like this:
Although my official title is pastor of <insert name here> church the ideas shared here are my own and do not reflect the position of my church.
I suppose I understand staff members having this disclaimer…but not lead pastors. I would think that the lead pastors (especially church planters) disclaimer would read something more like this:
The ideas shared here are 100% a reflection of <insert name here> church because after all, I am the lead pastor.
Everything rises and falls on leadership right?

Maybe what they are trying to say is that they don’t speak for the opinions of their congregation. Shoot … not near everyone agrees with us all of the time about everything. But sometimes people take one person’s thoughts and apply it to the whole church. That might be to simple … I don’t know. Just a thought.

A church is much more than its lead pastor. A church’s beliefs and ideas are guided by the pastor, but really are a reflection of the members and the church as a whole. Just because a lead pastor feels strongly about an idea or position, does not necessarily mean that the individual members or the church as whole feels the same. When the lead pastor moves on, the church will retain its own beliefs and ideas only to be guided by the next lead pastor.
