My friend and mentor, Pastor Bil Cornelius at Bay Area Fellowship in Corpus Christi, Texas is tearing it up. Plain and simple.
This past Sunday he did one of the most creative things I’ve ever seen done in a church. He preached an entire message without speaking a single word.
Yes you read that right…the entire message was done in silence. Pastor Bil pulled out signs, used powerpoint screens, typed out thoughts live and finished up by writing on a plexi glass board. The message was entitled “The Power of Silence.”
I’m not sure if he did it or not, but as he shared the vision for this idea with a small group of pastors, he told us that at one point they would be having their worship leader walk out on stage with a guitar and instead of playing any music, the guy would simply put his hands up in the air in silence for 3 or 4 minutes.
That just sounded POWERFUL to me.
And it was. Because check out what happened. Even though Pastor Bil never spoke a word, 116 people accepted Christ on Sunday. WOW!
THAT is the Spirit moving!
