The Gift

I have been praying for 32 days now about The Gift, our special Christmas offering that we are BRANGIN’ this Sunday, December 18th.

If you have not heard about The Gift yet, you can click here to read full details and even download a PDF with additional information. Many people have already given to this initiative. I LOVE how God is BLOWING IT UP at REVOLUTION CHURCH!

Here on the blog, I wanted to share my heart with you.

The Gift isn’t about warm fuzzy feelings. Its not about our church having nicer things or extra cash. Its not about more worship space or even planting new churches.

The Gift is all about JESUS. Its about our mission to Love God, Love People and Start a Spiritual Revolution in one life at a time all over the world!

At Revolution Church we are passionate about the Gospel, and while there are lots of great causes (especially at Christmas time), we make no bones about our belief that the local church is of the utmost importance. The local church is where spiritual revolutions start and eternities are changed. Its the only place you can make an investment that will last forever.

So why would we have a special offering and call it The Gift? Why would we set a goal of $30,000 and end 2011 with a bang of generosity?

Because it revolutionizes our lives and the lives of people around us when we jump out in faith and go for it!

Our hearts and money are connected. Jesus said that whatever we choose to treasure will also be where our heart is. Read Matthew 6:21. Give big to The Gift this Sunday, Revolution Church.

In preparation, I challenge you to read through 2 Corinthians 9 this week.
Pray and Ask God, “What would you have me give this Sunday?”

And then GO FOR IT. And remember: When God speaks, He always challenges you because He knows who you really are and that you are better than you think you are.

When you do this, God will grow your faith. Your vision gets stretched and you grow spiritually!

Don’t forget to bring your envelope for The Gift this Sunday, December 18th (we will have plenty extra if you do) and I’ll see ya then!

Static Mind Dump

  • We continued “This is the Sound” today with a message called Static. I have had a blast teaching and learning more about how we can hear from God!
  • We did a sermon illustration today with the screens, sound and lights…we created of moment of complete chaos and interference to illustrate what life is like when we try to hear from God. There are so many voices…so much static competing for our attention today. It was powerful and scared the snot out of people. :)
  • Actually to tell the truth, even though I knew it was coming and had already been through it twice, the illustration made me jump in the 3rd service. YIKES!
  • The band debuted a new song today called “The Sound.” Awesome song! Another great work from the Revolution Band.
  • I love that we have so many creative people serving God with their giftedness at Revolution Church!
  • I previewed one creative element of our Christmas Eve services with the team today and it is going to be INCREDIBLE. Get your tickets now and some tickets for a friend!
  • If you haven’t signed up to serve yet at two or more services, check this out now. We are giving away a cool Revolution Christmas shirt to volunteers.
  • I made a huge personal announcement during the sermon today…and I will share it with you here on the blog soon…
  • I ran a race in New Braunfels yesterday…just a short one. It was a 5K (3.1 miles). Cool part is I got 7th place. BAM! It was way too stinking cold to be running. I am still freezing!
  • If you haven’t tried it yet, you need to try some Yerba Mate tea. Pretty good, though I’ll probably stick with my cuban coffee. Thank you Nic!
  • Wait til you see the REV Band’s Christmas pictures…coming soon…
  • I am PUMPED UP about The Gift this coming Sunday. Get ready Revolution!

Signal Booster Mind Dump

  • We kicked off The Sound today, a new series of messages on hearing the voice of God. If you missed it check it out on the REV APP later this week or right here online.
  • If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. James 1:5
  • A few guys in the church built out our HUGE GIFT on stage this week. It turned out great! A big old present that changes colors. Pretty cool!
  • I shared about our Christmas services on Dec. 23rd and 24th today and tickets started going fast! Get your tickets here now before they are all gone or visit the REV Cafe on any Sunday.
  • Don’t forget about A Night of Worship this Wednesday at 6:30pm. Full kids ministries will be rolling, so bring the kiddos. Also we will have communion and a special “conversation” on stage. Excited about it!

  • We are shooting video all this week for our first message in 2012. Its called Vision 2012. I am excited about sharing on location with you about the vision and goals God has for Revolution this coming year. Get pumped up!
  • We had about 40 people commit to partnership at Revolution this week. Awesome!

Sunday Mind Dump

  • We wrapped up our Next Steps series today. Awesome to see so many people respond by taking a step of faith!
  • Todays steps were:
  • One of our guitarists, Rick Walker, preached today. I call it SHUCKIN’ THE CORN. And the corn WAS shucked. Thanks Rick! Great job!
  • Side note: if you missed the message be sure to listen online or on the REV APP. Rick shares some of his story in the message and it is a pretty powerful story about how he and his family got connected at Revolution Church.
  • That said, I got to attend Revolution for the first time since we moved to the new location. It was good for me to be able to get my eyes on everything.
  • I was EXTREMELY impressed with all of our kids ministry areas! Club 56, Revolution Kids, Rev’n Rainforest and the Nursery were all rockin’ along every service.
  • Couper came home talking about the Israelites and how they ran across the Red Sea and how the bad guys died. Awesome!
  • I got to cook pancakes this morning for our REV Teams in Volunteer Central. We really love taking good care of our volunteers at Revolution. It was an honor to serve many of your families today and hang with ya!
  • We also had a guest worship leader today, Ross Anglen, from our next church plant, Uncommon Church in the North Austin area. Great job today Ross! Pray for Ross because he is about to be a first time daddy! Congrats bro!
  • Next week we kick off a series called “This is the Sound.” I can honestly say I am stinking PUMPED about this series of messages on how to hear God’s voice.

  • We finished planning our Christmas Eve service this past week…it is going to be A BLAST. Christmas at Revolution!
