2012 Goal List

I’ve found that reprioritizing and recalibrating your life is an indispensable activity if you really want to actualize your potential. I am very driven and I love to look at where I have been the last year and pray and seek God and write out what I think He wants me to accomplish each new year.

I began this process in 6th grade. The picture shown is of the first goal list I ever wrote out in 6th grade. Its grown a lot and developed a lot, but essentially, its the same thing. Each new year brings a sense of a fresh start.

Here are my 2012 goals. These are the ones I feel comfortable sharing about. I seem to have a lot of more “private” goals this year than ever before:

  1. Beat my best half marathon time ever
  2. Bike 150 miles in a race
  3. Spend less money on junk food (starbucks, lunches, etc) and bring healthy lunches to the office. This will also help me accomplish more in each work day because lunch won’t take so long.
  4. Complete a 30 day Daniel Fast. Yikes.
  5. Read 15 books. I have a partial list. Any suggestions?
  6. Lead Revolution Church to love God and love people like never before. Make Revolution the place that LOVES GOD, LOVES PEOPLE and PROVES IT!
  7. Keep God’s bigness in my heart and expand our reach. Check out this message.
  8. Add a kiddo to our family and not die from the loss of sleep (baby white is due in July!)
  9. Pay cash for said baby. :)
  10. Date my wife and love her like Ephesians 5 commands husbands to do.
  11. Speak LIFE into every relationship and every interaction.
  12. Serve people like never before.
  13. Work HARD and rest HARD.
  14. Push. The. Envelope.
  15. Look further than 2012. Set goals for 10 years, 20 years and beyond.

Bulldog Mind Dump

  • We kicked off a new message series called Triple Dog Dare today. If you missed it, check it out here or go download the Revolution Church App for your mobile device.
  • I had four special guests on stage…two bulldogs named Diesel and Sadie and their owners, Dudley and Cindy Wait. It was a blast. And it made me want a bulldog more!
  • I triple dog dared our people to try out authentic, biblical community today in 2012. To do this we had what we call “The BIG REV Group Event.” This semester we will have 19 REV Groups meeting all over our area. If you missed it, you really need to check one out.
  • I got to speak one on one with a guy today that accepted Christ this morning. NEVER GETS OLD! YES!
  • Two of our Street Team guys (parking) got together and bought us our own, Revolution logo parking cones. Really cool! See pics below.
  • Really proud of my wife. She is pregnant and not feeling 100% and yet she comes and sits on the front row every service and cheers me on. It means so much. Thanks Toots!
  • I was blown away by how many guests we had today. 25 families visited us at the VIP area. CRAZY!
  • I got to speak for a while with one guest this morning that was literally wrecked and speechless. I asked him if he enjoyed his experience and he just couldn’t even get any words out. Awesome.
  • We had our highest non-holiday attendance ever today.
  • The second Triple Dog Dare video that our team made was hilarious, especially if you know Pastor David well. Watch it here.
  • I met with a team of people today about launching our first campus at Revolution. All I will say now is its not what you think and we area already hard at work on it!
  • While I am pumping you up about future things, on superbowl sunday we are doing a message called FANDEMONIUM and I need everyone to wear their favorite football team gear. GO all out. Paint your face, wear a jersey, put a cheese head on. Just come ready to have a blast and get rowdy!
  • Got an insane week ahead.
  • A couple shots of today below. TONS of pictures from the day here. Shots from Kevin Foster.

Don’t Put Jesus First Mind Dump

  • I had a blast preaching my first message of 2012! It was called “Don’t Put Jesus First in 2012.” Before you label me and Revolution Church heretics, Click here to listen or go get the Revolution App for your phone to watch.
  • Putting Jesus at the top of your new years list sounds good, but  I’ve found that it isn’t very effective when you get down to the grind of everyday life. Trust me. Go listen to the message!
  • This year, instead of worrying about putting Jesus first in your life, what if you concentrated on making Him the center of every area of your life? Not just the top priority in front of every other priority, but the top priority IN every priority? WHOA!
  • By the way, it was fun to get all the hate email all week long from the haters. Haven’t had any haterade in a while. If you were one of those haters, I forgive you. Put Jesus at the center of every area of your life so that He becomes first in all things…even your emails…and let’s move on! There are too many people that need to hear the Gospel for us to sit around and hate.
  • I used a big sheet and spray paint during the message as a visual. I was tired of writing on a big notepad during my messages…this was WAY better, cheap and fun.
  • I haven’t really shared on the blog much yet, but on Sunday I shared what God has done in the life of my family over the last few months. HUGE. CRAZY. GOD is FAITHFUL. As I shared that story each service, Amber was on the front row balling and I had to work hard to not cry like a baby. I’ll share on the blog soon.
  • I’ll also show you the video that we used to promo our new series, Triple Dog Dare sometime this week…HILARIOUS. Great job Jacob and Micah!
  • Check out the awesome pics of the day from the always talented photog, Kevin Foster below. All pics can be viewed here.

The Gift Mind Dump

  • Today was a revolutionary day at Revolution Church!
  • We ended our series, “The Sound” and received our special offering, “The Gift.”
  • If you missed The Gift, we will be receiving this special offering until December 31st at midnight. It was amazing to see our church step out in generosity together once again! I love it when we put our feet to our faith and live it out!
  • If you want to get closer to Christ and grow to be more like Christ, put a demand on your faith! Many people did that through The Gift today.
  • I had to preach today wearing the UGLIEST sweater ever. I tweeted earlier in the week that if the church would bring in at least $5,000 for The Gift before Sunday, I’d preach in it. I really didn’t think anyone would even see the announcement…but within about 20 minutes, over $5,000 had been given. Crud and awesome at the same time!
  • If you want to know the total brought in for The Gift, you will have to be patient, just like we will, since technically its not over until December 31st. I will say this…I am pretty certain that we will meet our goal of $30,000!
  • The band did a very fun, creative version of Joy to the World in which our own Grady Owens played a box. Yes, a box. You can view it on video below.
  • Check out all pics from the day here. Pics by Kevin Foster. See some favs below.
