God on Film: SPIDERMAN 3
Spiderman 3 is coming out next week and we are capitalizing on it at TCC! Each summer, we do an awesome series of topical messages called “God on Film.” I am so pumped about God on Film 3 that I have already started all the creative work for it. If you are interested in being on the God on Film 3 creative team, call or e-mail me asap and I will put you to work! It takes a committed team of people to do the set design, media, advertising, etc…On May 5th, we’ll be going to see the movie together as a church. a CHALLENGE for you
I saw a study that involved over 50 pastors and over 5,000 people who listened to sermons from those pastors. The study found that the most successful sermons are built around a plain stated, change-based goal that comes from Scripture. Hmmmm…you mean people really don’t care about the internal diversification of second temple Judaism?The point is this:The best sermons always challenge people to change and then take next steps in that direction. Mark Batterson says,
“It is the difference between information and transformation. Our sermons need to be more action-oriented and application-oriented. Most of us are educated way beyond our level of obedience. We don’t need more information. We need more transformation. We need to stop explaining what people already understand. A little less explanation. A lot more exhortation.”
That really resonated with me. Come to TCC this Sunday (I am preaching) and I promise you that you will be challenged to transform your life in one of the most counter-cultural ways possible. Then, you’ll be given a SIMPLE, PRACTICAL, EASY step to take to change your life.Can’t wait to see you there!
The A Team
The A Team is coming to TCC! I will be preaching this Sunday about relationships and our Connection Groups. We are continuing our “I Love the 80′s” message series and it’s going to be totally awesome dude! I pity the fool who doesn’t attend a service this week…We are going to have an awesome video, some news about Connection Groups, and an awesome time of committment. You won’t want to miss it.Please pray for me as I prepare this week and get ready. I am a little worried about my voice going out since we have 3 services now, but I guess if some pastors can do 12 weekend services, I can probably swing 3.
