Update on The Boss

The Boss. That’s the name Couper gave my Dad…

We have literally hundreds of people praying for my dad today and all week long. He is having open heart surgery an minute now.

Many of you have asked exactly what surgery he is having.

Two things:

1. MAZE. Click for info.

2. Valve repair (or replacement). Click for info.

Do me a favor. Leave a comment for my Dad and I’ll share them with him after the surgery! And more than anything please pray your guts out!

Jumping Over Fire and Cars

Ran the WARRIOR DASH today with my brother, his fiance, my two neighbors and about 20,000 other people. It was a BLAST.

Its a super short race…a 5K (3.1 miles) but its full of crazy obstacles like a creek, cargo netting, cars, fire you jump over, and at the end a mud swamp. Typically I could run a 5K in about 21 minutes. Today’s course took me 38 minutes. I was going slow and having a ton of fun.

Most fun moment in the race: jumping over cars and fire. That was AWESOME.

Best moment of the race: when I BOLTED through the muddy creek past tons of people (because I had on the best shoes ever for something like this). One girl I passed in the creek screamed “stop splashing.” I just splashed more. Really? You’re in the wrong race lady…

Zak Recommends

This week I recommend…

Going to a cable park.

Let me explain…

If you’ve never tried wakeboarding, you should. Its a blast! But a lot of people either don’t have access to a boat or don’t live close to a lake.

So someone invented “cable parks.”

Cable wakeboarding is simply wakeboarding while being pulled by an overhead cableski system. It’s definitely the coolest addition to the distinguished list of extreme sports throughout the world, because it combines the best of the extreme nature of wakeboarding without the need for (or expense of) a boat.

There are over 140 cable parks all over the world, and more are on the drawing board

It’s drastically less expensive compared to all the costs involved with boat wakeboarding, with a lot less hassle. And, best of all, you can do every trick on the cable that can be done behind the boat, and more.

Cable parks are the PERFECT gateway for anyone wanting to try wakeboarding. And you don’t have to do tricks…its fun and enjoyable to just get out and take laps around the cable lake.

If you live in the San Antonio area, the closest cable park is Texas Ski Ranch, just north of New Braunfels on I-35…and I’ll go with you. Just say when.

You’re welcome!
