This past Sunday we did a one week sermon that went well with the Super Bowl called Fandemonium, we had a “half time” report video in the sermon. It was a lot of fun and a great creative idea. They just interrupted me with the video to create a true half time feel. Check it out here or watch below.

Man VS. Wife – Train Now

We are kicking off a new series called Man VS. Wife this Sunday at Revolution Church, but you don’t have to wait for church to start applying God’s Word to your marriage.

Here is what I want to encourage you to do each day as we get closer to our new series. Open up the Bible and read through Philippians 2:1-11. Read it every day and then pray these two specific things:

Jesus, let me see the areas I fall short in serving my spouse.

Jesus, let me see my spouse through your eyes.

Super Bowl Sunday at Revolution Church was FLAT CRAY CRAY! I had a blast with all of you today!
BEST OF ALL, we had several people accept Christ today!
My grandma (Ninnie) and grandad (Mack) as well as my parents were in THE HOUSE today. Honored to have them join us! My grandad said “I didn’t have any trouble hearing in THAT church!”
We encouraged everyone to come wearing their favorite sports team gear and paint their faces. I was blown away at how many people participated – I’d say about 90% of the people came geared up.
I had my face painted in true Revolution Church colors and the entire band and staff were wearing custom made Revolution Church football jerseys. Had a blast with that!
I also got to wear my brothers SCUC Championship ring. PHAT! and FUN!
And my Ma showed up with my old hockey jersey on. REPRESENT!
The face paint wasn’t random. It was actually a part of the sermon, an illustration about how when you know Christ, His glory paints your face. Get the Revolution App to watch the sermon or go listen / watch here.
Speaking of watching online or via the Revolution App, we got new camera gear this week and now you can finally see some GOOD quality video of the sermon each week.
Halfway through the sermon, we had a “half time report” video interrupt me. It was hilarious and fun! I’ll post it later this week.
We gave a grill away to the craziest fan at the start of each sermon…all three services.
The Revolution Band did “We will rock you” by Queen. Talk about some ENERGY!
Remember: BE A BRANGER!!! Man VS. Wife starts next Sunday at Revolution! Our new worship times also start next week. Repeat after me: 9:30am, 11:00am and 1:00pm.

Two Year Birthday in Photos

Sunday we celebrated our two year birthday at Reovlution Church. In two years we have seen 495 people accept Christ. Sunday alone 34 people followed Christ in baptism! Here are some photo highlights from the day. For full baptism photos click here and for pics from the service click here.

34 People Go Public

To celebrate our second birthday at Revolution Church we had a big Baptism Tailgate party this past Sunday. It was a BLAST! And best of all, 34 people went public with their faith. We captured the event on video. Check it out here or below.

Two Year Birthday Mind Dump

WOW! I am blown away by all God has done at Revolution Church in two years!
To celebrate, we baptized 34 people today! THAT is my kind of church birthday party!
I preached the final “Triple Dog Dare” sermon today. It was all about getting baptized.
I’ve never seen so many people wearing lime green and black. LOVE IT.
The band did a great job today. Worship was incredible!
It was amazing to see people get up from their seat and head out the door to get baptized in every service today. Just like the first church service in the book of Acts! I like it that way!
I used twitter live on the big screens today as an illustration. And now I am “following” Justin Beiber. Not sure how I feel about that…
I had a blast partying, hanging, eating and playing games with all of you today after church. So good to just hang out and have some fun!
Jacob, our band director and REV Creative video leader rattled my cage in the joust game. Seriously, he smacked me right in the face and I saw little blue birds flying around for a few seconds just like in the cartoons. Ouch! I smell payback brewing…
God has put some BIG stuff on my heart for us Revolution Church. I am working hard on it, reading books, speaking to mentors, praying like never before and diving deep into God’s word. I share that to ask you this – please pray for me. This is a crucial time for us. Get ready!

Some things you need to know:

This Wednesday night we will have a Night of Worship and communion. Full kids ministry will be happening for your kiddos. See you there at 6:30pm. I’ll be sharing some BIG stuff that God has put on my heart.
Superbowl Sunday…that is this coming Sunday, Feb. 5th, come to church completely DECKED OUT in your favorite football fan gear. Put on a jersey and paint your face. Any kids team, high school team, college team or pro team is allowed…just no Texas Tech stuff (kidding…sort of!)
Starting February 12th, we will be changing to new service times. The new times will be 9:30am, 11:00am and 1:00pm.
I mean number two that you just read. Seriously. See the guys below? Come to church dressed like them (with a shirt on!) We will be giving a Revolution Church superbowl party pack away to the best dressed fan in each service.

2 Years of Life Change

One thing we like to do at Revolution Church is celebrate. God has been way too good to us not to stop and give Him glory for all that we have seen Him do. So this Sunday we are throwing a party!

I hope you will join us for worship at 8:30, 10:00 or 11:30am…then, you need to join us for our two year birthday and baptism tailgate party at 12:30 – 2:00pm. We will be at the Revolution Church campus eating, playing games, partying and celebrating life change!

Here are just a few highlights that we have seen over the last two years:

We have seen 495 people make decisions to follow Jesus!
74 people have been baptized – and many more will be baptized this Sunday.
We opened our first location.
We helped plant our first two churches in other parts of Texas.
We saw radical generosity as the people of this church stepped up and gave in crazy ways to our Illuminate initiative.

The list goes on and on…see what I mean? GOD is GREAT!

Celebrating what God has done gives us the faith to dream in an even more revolutionary way about what He wants to do in the future. Pausing to reflect propels us forward with greater vision and greater intensity.

Revolution Church, let’s move ahead into year three knowing that the best is yet to come!

Messing it All Up

I’m passionate about messing stuff up.

It is a BIG part of my job – to constantly challenge the process as well as examine what we do and why we do it. Culture is progressing faster than ever. We need to be progressing too.

I don’t ever want to be stuck with sacred cows in our ministry at Revolution. Instead, I want to challenge things and push forward.

At the heart of all of this I have a passionate conviction that every human is created in the image and likeness of God. I believe that we are all broken images and that it is our job to call out of every person the greatness that lies within. It’s time to “mess peoples’ lives up” by calling out the greatness that God has placed inside of them.

And this week, God messed me up big time. Get ready Revolution Church…I’m about to MESS some stuff up!

Bulldog Mind Dump

We kicked off a new message series called Triple Dog Dare today. If you missed it, check it out here or go download the Revolution Church App for your mobile device.
I had four special guests on stage…two bulldogs named Diesel and Sadie and their owners, Dudley and Cindy Wait. It was a blast. And it made me want a bulldog more!
I triple dog dared our people to try out authentic, biblical community today in 2012. To do this we had what we call “The BIG REV Group Event.” This semester we will have 19 REV Groups meeting all over our area. If you missed it, you really need to check one out.
I got to speak one on one with a guy today that accepted Christ this morning. NEVER GETS OLD! YES!
Two of our Street Team guys (parking) got together and bought us our own, Revolution logo parking cones. Really cool! See pics below.
Really proud of my wife. She is pregnant and not feeling 100% and yet she comes and sits on the front row every service and cheers me on. It means so much. Thanks Toots!
I was blown away by how many guests we had today. 25 families visited us at the VIP area. CRAZY!
I got to speak for a while with one guest this morning that was literally wrecked and speechless. I asked him if he enjoyed his experience and he just couldn’t even get any words out. Awesome.
We had our highest non-holiday attendance ever today.
The second Triple Dog Dare video that our team made was hilarious, especially if you know Pastor David well. Watch it here.
I met with a team of people today about launching our first campus at Revolution. All I will say now is its not what you think and we area already hard at work on it!
While I am pumping you up about future things, on superbowl sunday we are doing a message called FANDEMONIUM and I need everyone to wear their favorite football team gear. GO all out. Paint your face, wear a jersey, put a cheese head on. Just come ready to have a blast and get rowdy!

Don’t Put Jesus First Mind Dump

I had a blast preaching my first message of 2012! It was called “Don’t Put Jesus First in 2012.” Before you label me and Revolution Church heretics, Click here to listen or go get the Revolution App for your phone to watch.
Putting Jesus at the top of your new years list sounds good, but I’ve found that it isn’t very effective when you get down to the grind of everyday life. Trust me. Go listen to the message!
This year, instead of worrying about putting Jesus first in your life, what if you concentrated on making Him the center of every area of your life? Not just the top priority in front of every other priority, but the top priority IN every priority? WHOA!
By the way, it was fun to get all the hate email all week long from the haters. Haven’t had any haterade in a while. If you were one of those haters, I forgive you. Put Jesus at the center of every area of your life so that He becomes first in all things…even your emails…and let’s move on! There are too many people that need to hear the Gospel for us to sit around and hate.
I used a big sheet and spray paint during the message as a visual. I was tired of writing on a big notepad during my messages…this was WAY better, cheap and fun.
I haven’t really shared on the blog much yet, but on Sunday I shared what God has done in the life of my family over the last few months. HUGE. CRAZY. GOD is FAITHFUL. As I shared that story each service, Amber was on the front row balling and I had to work hard to not cry like a baby. I’ll share on the blog soon.

Don’t Put Jesus First in 2012

Yes, you read that title correctly.

This week’s message is called Don’t Put Jesus First in 2012. We sent out an E-Update today about it and people are going nuts sending me emails of disapproval typed out in all caps.

Before you label me or Revolution Church as heretics, settle down for a second. Why don’t you show up and listen to the message. I’ll give you a short preview right now:

Putting Jesus first is a flawed paradigm. Jesus doesn’t want to be first on your list. He insists on being the center of your life.

When you put Him first, you sort of segregate Him from all other priorities. But if Jesus is at the center, he becomes vital to every single area of life. Put Jesus at the center of it all and for many of us, He will actually be first for the first time ever.

I hope you will join us this Sunday at 8:30, 10:00 or 11:30 at Revolution Church as we look at why maybe it shouldn’t be Jesus first.

Vision 2012

Back in December we went on location and shot a lot of video! I can’t wait to share with you this Sunday what God has put on my heart for Revolution Church in 2012.

The vision of Revolution Church is to love God, love people and start a revolution in one life at a time. If we really are ALL about loving God and loving people, then EVERYTHING we do will be FOR HIM AND FOR THEM.
