26 Aug 2010Coming out of our recent series “Change Everything” I felt led by God to change some stuff at Revolution! One of those things is the name of our small groups.
At first, we called our small groups “LifeHouse Groups.” The title never really stuck. People just called them Rev Groups or Life Groups anyway…
The name “REV Groups” seems like the natural choice!
Rev Groups are the connection point at Revolution Church. It is in a Rev Group that you will experience shared passion, shared purpose and shared lives.
Rev Groups are really just small groups of people who meet regularly in order to make a difference in the community, develop friendships with each other, and challenge each other to be more like Christ. Rev Groups meet in homes, coffee shops, parks, libraries, or wherever there’s room!
The goal of these groups is to “experience a spiritual revolution” together byencouraging one another to apply God’s Word to our daily lives, by inviting our friends to come with us, and by multiplying into another neighborhood in 9-12 months.
We will be kicking off our new semester of groups soon. Don’t wait to sign up…go here now! We have groups meeting at all different times all over the Schertz, Cibolo area…and even one group in Converse.

24 Aug 2010I think we need to get fed up with the petty.
I don’t know about you, but I am tired of senseless barriers and constraints. I am fed up with non-stop interruptions. I’m sick of the need to get approval or permission. The illusion that you have to be “amazing” or “experienced” or “ready.” The fairytale that you need to know what you’re doing…
These things are petty and will not help you get closer to your dream.
Let me ask you this:
What petty things in your life are you crazy enough to kill?
The number one question I DO NOT get from church planters is “how do I fund my church plant?” This should be question number one. Trust me. Revolution Church is six months old and I had no idea how much money it would take. There are so many things you don’t think about at first!
To make it worse, if you are a “lion” personality or A-type as many church planters are, you simply do not have what it takes to manage the financial side of your church on your own. The first step to growing a healthy church is to admit that you can’t do it all.
What’s the second step? Buy a book that just came out called “Funded and Free.” Casey Graham and Joe Sangl have teamed up to release this rocket style approach book that will help you become a funded church, free of financial worry.
I have been working with Casey for over a year now and there is no doubt that Revolution Church is reaching people because of his coaching on biblical financial management principles and funding techniques.
I called the approach of the book “rocket style” because each chapter is no longer than two pages and gets right to the meat of what you need to know. This is MY KIND OF BOOK. No fluff. No puff. No junk.
Here are just a few topics in the book that have helped Revolution the most:
There are 50 chapters total, each hitting an important topic with super practical and simple advice.
If you click here you can buy 5 books for $50 now. I recommend getting one for everyone on your staff and reading it together. Or, buy 5 books and give one to each church planter that your church supports. Seriously, this stuff ought to be REQUIRED reading for any church planter.
Trust me. The two pages on “fixing the summer slump” alone are worth thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars. We have grown both financially and numerically through the summer just by praying our guts out and applying these simple principles.
One more thing. I know Casey Graham. I know his heart. This is the best part of this book. Casey has been in ministry and truly has a heart to see people meet Jesus in churches all over the world. This book isn’t about making money. Its about the Gospel. I tell every church planter I meet that dollars equal people you can reach. This book will increase your dollars so that you can reach more people. Its ALL ABOUT THE KINGDOM.
Don’t be prideful. Don’t be dumb. Get at least one copy of this book NOW and DEVOUR it.

14 Aug 2010I used to get PUMPED every Saturday night because of this:

Seriously, American Gladiators was stinking awesome! Nitro was the man!
NOW, I get pumped every Saturday because of this:
I am PUMPED about tomorrow at Revolution Church! We are baptizing in our new baptism pool, its week two of Change Everything and I have a HUGE announcement!
God’s been singing “you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet” to me all week long. His dreams and plans for Revolution Church are so much greater than ours.
He has really been teaching me how to listen to Him lately and how to sit right at His feet. Here we go Revolution! GET FIRED UP and I’ll see ya tomorrow!
Its a prayer slash saying that has always bugged me…a Christian platitude.
We pray “God, if you could just open up a door for me.”
What we are really saying is “oh God bless my laziness!”
Last time I checked, God requires us to have faith and take action. Look at James 1:6-7 or Hebrews 11:6.
What we ought to pray is “God, just barely crack doors so that I am required to have faith to walk through them.”
Our message on Sunday was all about praying this risky prayer. We called it “Kick it Open” because when God shows us just a sliver of light…a little tiny crack in the door, its our job to kick the door open and jump in with some risky faith.
We need to pray bold prayers! We need to say, “God I believe in You and I am willing to stick my neck out there for You!”
See, the issue is this: do we really believe our God is powerful? If we do then we will pray some BOLD, CRAZY prayers Believing that He can do what He says He will do!
What doors are you kicking open in life?
