• Another ROCKIN’ day at Revolution Church!
  • We had our first ever Partnership Class today. Awesome to see people join the church and commit to being a part of the Revolution family!
  • Volunteers from First Baptist Church of Universal City came to the gym and watched our kiddos while we had Partnership Class. They support us and cheer us on in big ways! LOVE what they are doing for the Kingdom!
  • Yesterday morning, about 17 volunteers from Revolution Church served the community at the Schertz Walk for Life. It was a blast!
  • We kicked off a new message series called “Save the Humans” today. I am PUMPED about this message series!
  • Easter is coming like a freight train. Yikes!
  • Amber went to the GLO Women’s conference at Bay Area Fellowship in Corpus Christi this weekend. Couper and I hung at the house and had a blast! Somehow we made it without burning the house down…we were also able to feed ourselves (with the help of Chick-Fil-A).
  • We Baptized a man today named Abraham. That NEVER gets old! LOVE IT!
  • Time to kick back up with the running this week. I took a week break, after running my first Ultra Marathon (31 miles) last weekend…now I gotta get back at it!
  • I made it through the day with NO espresso…guess I’ll just have to go make one after I type this up. :)
  • AMAZED by the team at Revolution Church! WOW!
  • MORE AMAZED by my wife! DOUBLE WOW!
  • So pumped about Easter! Wait till you see what we have planned!
  • Big week ahead (as usual!)

  • Please pray for our sound guy, David Carey, and his family. He is already fighting cancer and this morning he was rushed to the ER for heart issues. We will know tomorrow, but tonight, would you please pray for him?
  • SERIOUSLY sore from the 31 mile race I ran yesterday. MAN. Don’t remember ever being so sore.
  • No pain no gain though. That’s not just a dumb saying…its PURE TRUTH. If you want to accomplish something great, it WILL cost you something.
  • Last night a literally sat in a tub of ice water for 20 minutes. Freezing cold…but felt good. Might do it again tonight.
  • Revolution Church was CRAZY today!
  • We had my good buddy Josh Rosenthal in from Salt Lake City Utah leading worship. It was interesting to see how people responded to just a mic and a guitar instead of a loud, driving band. I love mixing it up!
  • Also, in Revolution Kids, we had a magician, Aaron Lynch performing. He shared some stories from the Bible in very creative ways. Honored to have him with us.
  • We had people accept Christ today! NEVER GETS OLD! YEAH BABY!
  • Also had a TON of 1st time guests today. Awesome!
  • My good friend, Seth Pennington, and I hung a 5 foot by 10 foot banner with the church logo, website and service times on the front of our meeting location today. Awesome to have some constant exposure at our location.
  • I shared our 1st BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) today for the first year of Revolution Church…we want to see 100 people baptized during year one!
  • Had some awesome new people step up today into volunteer roles when we really needed it.
  • Yes, I said “you don’t give a damn” in the sermon today. Go listen here. It was a powerful story/illustration of how we tend to think vs. how we need to think.
  • Pumped about starting our new message series next week called “Save the Humans!”
  • Also pumped about our first ever Partnership Class! If you attend Revolution Church, I hope you’ll join us for this special day!

In the morning, I will attempt to run my longest race yet…the Cowtown Ultra Marathon. 50 kilometers. How far is that?

50 kilometers = 31.0685596 miles

Yikes. 31. Miles.

According the Cowtown website, there are 18 men in my division. Coming off of my knee injury & a terrible race season, I am just hoping to finish.

I’ll be running with my dad and my good friend Wendy Oglesby. I’ll also have the good old iPhone again, so watch my twitter & facebook for video updates. :)

Sunday was epic for Revolution Church! We launched a second service and began a new message series called Let’s Get Dangerous…all about the difference between a safe church and a dangerous church. You can click here to listen to the message.

Check out  Acts 2:38-41:

38Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

40With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Can you imagine what that must have been like? One sermon and the church explodes! It grows by 3,000 people! WOW!

During this time, the old church hated this new movement. The government felt so threatened by the early church that if you were found to be a Christian they would KILL YOU. And in the middle of all of this did the church shrink?

NO! It grew! Why? Because it was a dangerous, powerful church. Fast forward 2,000 years to the present day and the church has become safe. We are civilized. We’ve become complacent. We go to church, go home…and nothing happens.

God is not calling churches today to be a safe. He is calling us to be a dangerous churches & dangerous Christians.

At Revolution Church we have a simple, dangerous mission. We want to make Jesus famous, in one life at a time.

That is a dangerous mission. If we are living it out we’ll be persecuted. We’ll be made fun of. We’ll be different in many ways than the rest of the world. We’ll invest our money in different places. We’ll talk differently and not say things that the world does. We’ll raise our kids differently. We’ll look very different than the world and we’ll be following the most dangerous revolutionary out there EVER in the course of history, JESUS CHRIST.

We make Jesus famous by living out our purpose. Our purpose is to LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE. START A REVOLUTION.

Its a dangerous purpose! We believe the Gospel is for EVERYONE. NO matter who you are or how bad you think you’ve been, God wants to be in a relationship with you.

I like to say that we will do ANYTHING short of sin to reach people. We want to help them become fully devoted followers of Christ so that they too can be sent out to love God, love people, and start a spiritual revolution. The success of Revolution church does not depend upon how many people are in the chairs in one service. Success is measured by how many people we send out!

The question is this: Is Revolution going to be a safe church or a dangerous church? And, are you going to be a safe Christian or a DANGEROUS one?

Let’s get dangerous!
