Sunday Mind Dump

mind dump:

  • Happy Dad’s day to all you Dad’s out there! Today we honored all Dad’s by giving them each a copy of “Wild at Heart.” If you missed out, stop by the office this week and we’ll give you one.
  • That said, I am so thankful for my Da-O. He helped shape me into the man I am today. I hope and pray that I can do half as good with Couper as he did with me. I love you a TON Dad!
  • Couper and Amber got me some sandals, shorts, and a gift certificate to Texas Ski Ranch. YEAH!
  • The last two weeks were insane with Cole being out and me doing my own message series. Now, I know what its like to preach consecutive weeks…it takes a serious TOLL on you. I admire Cole now more than ever…and keep in mind, I ONLY DID TWO WEEKS. There’s been times that Cole has done 20-30 weeks straight. Incredible.
  • I had to explain to a second timer today that I wasn’t the lead pastor and that Cole would be teaching next week. He seemed a little disappointed, but that’s just because he hasn’t heard Cole BRING IT yet!
  • I also had three other people tell me today after church that they hadn’t been to church in over five years. Each one of them said that they gave up on the church. But now, they have found a place that is authentic. AWESOME JOB TCC!!!
  • Jeremy, our first ever worship leader from back in the day (ok, just 3 years ago), was filling in today. That guy has a gift…did an incredible job!  The band was ON.
  • The straitjacket escape went well. Yes, I said straitjacket escape. If you were out, you missed out…big time. We had a BLAST today with the conclusion of “Illusions!”
  • I had several people joke with me about this post. Steve Etheridge wussed out on me. I wasn’t joking. I’m dead set on finding someone to punch me in the face on video. Who will it be?
  • Some changes in process here on the blog. You’ll see them happening slowly…unless you are an RSS reader. :)
  • Got to see my little (way bigger than me) football coach of a brother today for a few. I love that guy. Also got to see my sis! She came to church. Sam’s face always makes it that much better!
  • Went and saw Brad Stine tonight at The PAC. That guy has some SERIOUS A.D.D. issues. Hays Hills Baptist Church did a Father’s Day event and I have never heard Cole laugh that much in my life. I thought he was going to pass out!
  • I got more good theology lessons from Brad in his comedy routine tonight than I used to get at my old churches. Sad, but true…
  • We started a new Compassion child sponsorship this week that will last at least 10 years and I hooked up with this group. Our child’s name is Emmanuel Sikuku. He is 7 years old and lives in Uganda. I can’t wait to hear from him and write him tons of letters. Pic of him below.
  • Sponsoring Emmanuel will be an awesome way for us to teach Couper all kinds of stuff about life and gratitude. It blows my mind that for a measly $32.00 a month Emmanuel will get to go to school, have some good food, attend a church, and most importantly, learn about Jesus.
  • Got a big day tomorrow…especially if the boss man shows back up

How I Read the Bible.

Check THIS out. This is an incredible project and I must admit, I have started doing a LOT of my Bible reading using this. Absolutely incredible. This is the perfect example of someone carrying out how God wants to be redeeming technology too! Bobby and Terry, great job! Be sure to watch the intro video on the left.

The GAME is Popular

Turns out that the Marathon Music Game is pretty popular, which is a good thing because I need serious help picking a playlist for my marathon. Look at the SPIKE on this graph of my blog page visits:

Let’s Play a Game…MARATHON MUSIC

Alright, let’s play a www.zakwhite.com GAME!

I need to make about a 2 hour playlist on my iPod of the ABSOLUTE PERFECT, most inspiring, motivating, upbeat music there is to listen to as I run my marathon at the end of this month. Here is how this will work:

  • Leave your top ten list of running songs by commenting HERE.
  • I will listen to all of the songs submitted, sort them, test them in my training even…
  • If I decide to use at least 2 of your 10 songs, I will put your name in a drawing for a cool prize.
  • You can submit as many top ten running song lists as you want, as long as there are no duplicate songs on any of your lists.
  • You MUST give me the name AND artist of each song.
  • The deadline for your top ten list(s) is NEXT TUESDAY, November 22nd. (I BUMPED THE DATE BACK)
  • A hint to help you win: Elton John, Norah Jones, and Michael Buble are some of my favorite artists out there, but I need stuff that’s a little more motivating than that…stuff that will pump me up to RUN HARD, FAST AND LONG…not stuff that will motivate me to stop pick daisies for Amber on my run

SO GO AHEAD…help me run my marathon by listing your top running songs NOW and maybe you’ll even win something!
