Time to Pulverize

Our new message series that we will be kicking off on September 12th is called BREAK OUT.

Its all about the old habits, addictions and bad patterns in our lives that trap us, drag us down and keep us from living the life that God intended. I believe this series will help people shake loose the chains of apathy and find purpose in life. We are going to see some stuff junk in our lives get PULVERIZED at Revolution Church!

We are going to be talking about addiction to pornography, substance abuse and battling depression. Revolution, you know people that desperately NEED THIS. You just don’t know that you know people that need it. For the most part, these are things that many people fight behind closed doors.

That’s the scary part. SO many of us are trying to win battles like these all alone when the truth is that these battles can only be won in the context of relationships. We MUST drag these things OUT into the light and PULVERIZE them!

Its time to BREAK OUT!

Here is the message schedule:

September 12th – Pulverize: Fight for Your Freedom
September 19th – It’s Just Lust: Bug Eyes
September 26th – Addictions: Get High
October 3rd – Hurt Locker: Dealing with Depression

Kill the Petty

I think we need to get fed up with the petty.

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of  senseless barriers and constraints. I am fed up with non-stop interruptions. I’m sick of the need to get approval or permission. The illusion that you have to be “amazing” or “experienced” or “ready.” The fairytale that you need to know what you’re doing…

These things are petty and will not help you get closer to your dream.

Let me ask you this:

What petty things in your life are you crazy enough to kill?

DNA, Balance & Heart Check

Recently Christine Caine spent almost a week with the staff at Bay Area Fellowship. Bay Area has the most loyal, God honoring, hard working, risk taking, Pastor supporting staff of any church I have ever seen. My prayer is that we can develop the same kind of team at Revolution Church.

Check out what Bay Area’s pastor, Bil Cornelius, and some of the Bay Area staff had to say (original link here):

After speaking two nights at the Glo Women’s Conference and 5 weekend services, she made time to sit down and pour into our staff.  This was a powerful time for our staff, leadership and key volunteers.  A few of the key takeaways from this time and Christine’s 20+ years of ministry experiences were the following:

  • The staff of a Church must not only support the Pastor’s vision, but the vision must become theirs.  Only by grafting our Pastor’s vision into our DNA, will we ever be able to fully support him in carrying it out.
  • Balance isn’t the Goal.  A balanced life is a myth when it comes to those called to lead the Church. Meaning: Nothing can compete for the HIGH calling God has placed on our lives.  No outside agendas should pull us away from the direction our Church is heading.
  • Always check your heart.  We must frequently examine ourselves and purge ourselves of attitudes or actions that might prevent us from furthering the assignment God has given our Pastor.

Ways to Win my Heart

Yesterday I posted about why I am ok with paying more sometimes.

Today, ways for companies to win my heart:

  • Make it simple. Whatever “it” is, IT must be simple.
  • Give me my own account rep. I know its not “real” but have them take notes on me. Train them to act like they know me.
  • DO NOT try to get me to sign up for your charge card.
  • If I have to return something keep it simple.
  • If you get my order wrong, fix it. Fast.
  • If I am loyal to you, be loyal to me. (great example is Starbucks gold card program)
  • Use technology. When I go to my dentist, I sit down at the computer to fill out paperwork and update info. I love that!
  • Make sure I can try your product before I buy it. Make sure when I have questions that your sales staff can answer me clearly. (the Apple Store does this very well)
  • I want to be able to buy it in person AND online, for the same price.
  • Get your staff to say “my pleasure” or “thank you” often. (Chick-Fil-A does this very well)
  • Smile while you sell. Whistle while you work. Don’t be a jerk.
  • Have a no contract required option that isn’t ridiculously over priced. I’ll pay more to have it my way, but I won’t let you rip me off. And if I can’t have it my way I’ll go somewhere else.
