The Christmas Album that You NEED to Buy this Year is…

It is rare that I listen to a new cd for the first time and immediately love every single song. But that was the case with Josh Rosenthal’s new album that releases tomorrow called “Narratives: A Christmas Album.” Its even MORE RARE that I actually enjoy every song on a Christmas album.

Narratives: A Christmas Album

From the second I took the plastic off and felt the matte finished cardboard cover until I finished the last song, Josh’s music is as refreshing as it gets. It’s evident he puts his heart and soul into writing his music and we’re treated to a beautifully honest album.

Narratives opens with Josh’s own version of a classic, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” one of my favorite Christmas tunes. Second “This Changes Everything” has the feel of a Christmas classic and is a reminder of what Christmas is really about, the birth of Christ! Definitely my favorite track on the album.

Third is a Steve Weisberg song “Christmas for Cowboys.” Good harmonica on this one. Too bad its about Cowboys. :)

Second to last is another tune by Rosenthal and Wilson titled “Before I Go.” It doesn’t sound like much of a Christmas Song, but if you have been a fan of Rosenthal’s you’ll love it anyway. And last is Lyle Lovett’s “Christmas Morning.” I’ll be popping that one in on Christmas morning as my family celebrates.

The ONLY thing I’m not so sure about with this album is why Josh looks like a 40 year old man in his picture on the back. He’s younger than me and yet that picture makes me want to call him up and ask him how the grandkids are…

Check out Josh on Myspace.

Family First

By the time you read this post, I will have already flown to Lubbock early to surprise my family on Christmas Eve.  A few weeks ago, I booked a flight for Christmas Day to catch up with them.  But this past week, Cole told me I could skip our Christmas Eve service and go be with my family for Couper’s first Christmas.  So I called the airline and switched my ticket…but I didn’t tell anyone.  About the time this posts, I will be walking in saying “SURPRISE” to my son and wife.  I have missed them BIG TIME this week.

The house is just too quiet without Couper around.  I actually went to bed once already but I couldn’t sleep because of the excitement of seeing my baby!

This is just one thing that is incredible about our church!  They understand the principle that our families come first and they VALUE that.  Thanks TCC family and Merry Christmas!

On the note of family, we have a military family that will be separated this holiday season that I want you to pray for.  LTJG Clint Zgarba is stationed in Djibouti (pronounced “JA BOOTY”  HAHA!) at Camp Lemonier, he is the Assistant Officer in Charge of the hospital there.  Pray for his wife Sandye and his two kids as they will be on opposite sides of the globe.   Clint, I admire you.  I can’t even make it a week…

Oh Happy Day

So, what started out to be a stinky day for MANY reasons (which I won’t even begin to go into) ended up being an AMAZING DAY! I came home to a little boy who just wanted to be right up against me for hours. We wrestled. We went to the store. We ate. And to top it all off, Couper crawled! So cool to see my baby boy reach these different milestones…it seems like there is something new each day. Oh, and right before bed we opened up a Christmas present.

God is amazing.

Sunday Mind Dump

Can’t sleep unless I dump my thoughts…

  • Cole’s sermon, “A Love So BIG” was INCREDIBLE today!
  • In the 2nd service some members of the church surprised Cole and I with some gift certificates to say thanks for being TCC’s pastors. I wasn’t expecting it at all! It’s pastors appreciation month and I want to say thanks for the gift.
  • Also, thank you to Cole for being such an amazing Pastor to me! It is important that the pastors are pastored too you know. :)
  • I have the coolest, most fun, and most exciting job in the world! I LOVE IT!
  • Hobby Lobby has their Christmas stuff out. Seriously, can we keep the Christmas stuff put away at least until Halloween is over? It just seems wrong. And stupid.
  • They also had Halloween Trees out for sale…they were black trees with orange lights…that’s even more stupid. I think Halloween is getting ridiculous. Seriously.
  • My brother is a high school football coach in Floresville, TX. And, they are UNDEFEATED this season…8-0 baby…8-0!!!!
  • If you haven’t already, read THIS post of mine do it now. So now I am shamelessly self-pimping myself of myselfs website…
  • I left the house at 6:15am today and got home at 10:13pm. 15 hour day. WOW!
  • Couper was cracking me up tonight when we got home. I think he was really tired and had those tired giggles that we all get. We must have played peek-a-boo for an hour straight and he just laughed harder and harder.
  • My magic show tonight ROCKED. I had a BLAST! And, I get to do the same show again tomorrow night!
  • I have a LOT of running to do.
  • I can’t wait to install Leopard on both macs tomorrow…YES!
  • If I can’t sleep again tonight I am going to watch the Prestige.
  • I can’t believe that the freaking RED SOX won the series again…in 4 games. That’s the second time in the last 4 years. I hate when someone sweeps in October. Unless its the Angels. Now I have to wait forever for Baseball to start again.
  • I feel cool because Tim Stevens left a comment on my blog this week. :) Thanks Tim. You’re my hero.
  • If you missed Bram Floria sing The Love of God today, I feel SORRY for you.
