CreateRev

We have an awesome bunch of creative people at Revolution Church. I call them CreateREV.

It helps when creating stuff to have people that are good with their hands. That’s where my good buddy Seth Pennington comes in to play.

A while back we wanted to get some tall cafe tables that people could stand at and talk around…but everywhere I looked tables were $300 and looked cheaply made at best.

So I showed Seth. And he made this happen…amazing. The bases are plow discs off of an old farm plow…then, just some metal and paint.

Amazing! Seth, you da man.

REV Groups

Coming out of our recent series “Change Everything” I felt led by God to change some stuff at Revolution! One of those things is the name of our small groups.

At first, we called our small groups “LifeHouse Groups.” The title never really stuck. People just called them Rev Groups or Life Groups anyway…

The name “REV Groups” seems like the natural choice!

Rev Groups are the connection point at Revolution Church. It is in a Rev Group that you will experience shared passion, shared purpose and shared lives.

Rev Groups are really just small groups of people who meet regularly in order to make a difference in the community, develop friendships with each other, and challenge each other to be more like Christ. Rev Groups meet in homes, coffee shops, parks, libraries, or wherever there’s room!

The goal of these groups is to “experience a spiritual revolution” together byencouraging one another to apply God’s Word to our daily lives, by inviting our friends to come with us, and by multiplying into another neighborhood in 9-12 months.

We will be kicking off our new semester of groups soon. Don’t wait to sign up…go here now! We have groups meeting at all different times all over the Schertz, Cibolo area…and even one group in Converse.

DNA, Balance & Heart Check

Recently Christine Caine spent almost a week with the staff at Bay Area Fellowship. Bay Area has the most loyal, God honoring, hard working, risk taking, Pastor supporting staff of any church I have ever seen. My prayer is that we can develop the same kind of team at Revolution Church.

Check out what Bay Area’s pastor, Bil Cornelius, and some of the Bay Area staff had to say (original link here):

After speaking two nights at the Glo Women’s Conference and 5 weekend services, she made time to sit down and pour into our staff.  This was a powerful time for our staff, leadership and key volunteers.  A few of the key takeaways from this time and Christine’s 20+ years of ministry experiences were the following:

  • The staff of a Church must not only support the Pastor’s vision, but the vision must become theirs.  Only by grafting our Pastor’s vision into our DNA, will we ever be able to fully support him in carrying it out.
  • Balance isn’t the Goal.  A balanced life is a myth when it comes to those called to lead the Church. Meaning: Nothing can compete for the HIGH calling God has placed on our lives.  No outside agendas should pull us away from the direction our Church is heading.
  • Always check your heart.  We must frequently examine ourselves and purge ourselves of attitudes or actions that might prevent us from furthering the assignment God has given our Pastor.
