Incredibly Interesting

This is incredibly interesting to me.  Maybe I will go back to college and get my masters…I bet their enrollment jumps significantly.  All of the sudden high school seniors from all over the world will want to attend Abilene Christian University.

Here is the link one more time.

Technologically Productive

A couple of weeks ago, my good friend Jordan Polk sent me on a quest that I have embarked upon many times. He showed me his own personal lifehack workaround to having a to do list on the iPhone. I have searched for the perfect to do list tool far and wide. I have gone on many a quest. And what I have found over the last two years are some INCREDIBLE tools out there in web 2.0 land.  Here’s the best that I actually use:

  • Basecamp has a thing called “Backpack.” It rocks.  It’s literally an online backpack that you can store anything in.  And best of all for me, it works with the iPhone.
  • Need a cool TO DO list? An amazing tool that works alongside tons of other web 2.0 sites is ToodleDo.
  • Google has their calendar app that everyone in our office uses. I use it. I love it.  AMAZING.
  • The latest, greatest thing out there in web 2.0 land is Jott.com.  With Jott, you have the ability to post to all of the things above via cell phone by just speaking.  You can literally call Jott and say the words “Google Calendar: lunch with Zak next Wednesday at 9am” and it will add it to your Google Calendar.  AMAZING.
  • Twitter.  My favorite.  Oh, but wait, the title of this post is “Productivity.”  Twitter is sort of anti-productivity.  Nevermind then…

That’s just the tip of the iceberg of things I have found and/or have been using.  But, as far as a TO DO list application goes, I still can’t find anything better for my “Getting Things Done” mantra than this:

iPhone to do list

One word:  MOLESKINE.  Try it.

My ONLY iPhone Complaint

200 text messages a month just ain’t enough with an iPhone.  An iPhone complaint?  What?  Zak?  Is that really you blogging?  Yes…This image is my life starting on about the 8th of each month.

200 Text Messages AT&T

So from the 8th of each month until the end of the month, I have to check if I am over on my messages.  Regularly.  Daily.  Pretty much every time I get a text. For fear of being sent a HUGE bill.  So here it is, officially, my only complaint about the iPhone…the unlimited text messaging plan is TOO expensive.

Please AT&T, I BEG YOU, lower the unlimited texting plan for the iPhone and make my life easier…

Sunday – NO – MONDAY Mind Dump

Late Mind Dump:

  • MAN, the BAND ROCKED IT OUT YESTERDAY!
  • Attendance is still up, BIG TIME.  No doubt that God is using our new series, Baggage, to change lives!
  • We just finished planning some stuff that I am JAZZED about!  You’ll know more soon.
  • We will be building a house for a woman in Rwanda.  INCREDIBLE.  I am SO PUMPED about being the church all over the world to all kinds of people.  You’ll be hearing more about this and even seeing some video soon.  I’d tell you this woman’s name, but I can’t say or spell it.  We’ll also be sending two of her kiddos to school.
  • Can you believe that the PAC is almost upon us?
  • I have dreamed about our big move to the PAC for nights straight now.  Talk about PAC on the brain…
  • Heard a new word today – “pastorprenuers.”  What the heck is that all about?
  • Saturday, we had our first “Current” leadership meeting.  It was absolutely AMAZING.  A group of about 40 leaders showed up.  I believe with all my heart that one day we’ll look back on this first meeting and remember it as the day “IT ALL STARTED” at TCC.  God has some absolutely un-imaginable stuff planned for our church.  And it all starts with us as leaders.
  • If you are serving in any ministry at TCC, be sure to come to the Current leadership meetings.  We will be having them every 3rd Saturday of every month.  Where?  CABELA’S.  Yep, dead deer heads and all…
  • Had a great talk with some of our students today about the youth group and where its going.  SO where is it going?  IT IS GOING BIG…
  • I’m taking the afternoon off to chill with the family.  My plans?  DO NOTHING.  Unless Couper takes a nap…then, I’ll work on taxes.  Yummy.
