The Mecca of Entertainment

24 two hour

It happens very rarely. Maybe once every 10,000 years or so…a TRUE entertainer is born…

Seriously, 24 is my mecca of all entertainment. For me it just doesn’t get any better than this show. Its my favorite show ever. EVER!

I won tickets to the special 2 hour premier showing of Fox’s smash hit “24″ tonight. I won’t give any spoilers, but I will say a couple of things:

  • Jack Bauer is my freaking hero.
  • All Jack needs to kill someone is an ink pen.
  • If everyone in our country thought more like Jack, the U.S. would be a better place.
  • You can track everyone Jack has killed on the show here. Funny site. Even lists the weapon and a “name” for every person he’s knocked off.
  • There are only two hands that can beat a royal flush. Jack Bauer’s right hand and Jack Bauer’s left hand.

About two years ago we did a message series called “24: A Day with God.” Each week, we showed a short episode of our own version of 24. We even used REAL weapons and bullet proof vests. Awesome. When else do you get to point a real gun at your boss?

You can watch them here:

Episode 2

Episode 3

ENJOY! If you are a 24 fan, maybe these will hold you over until Sunday!

Sunday Mind Dump

  • We started two new service times today at The Connection Church…and it was PACKED OUT! We had our highest attendance ever (not including Easter.)
  • Thanks to everyone who committed to attending the 9:00am service for the first 6 weeks. My nature, the 10:30am service will always be more crowded. It is the most strategic move we can make to have you attend the first service, and serve in the second. WAY TO GO TEAM!
  • God is blowing my mind. There is not a week that goes by that I don’t hear an incredible life-change story. Amazing!
  • 35 families filled out first time guest cards today. WOWWWWWWW!!!
  • The band was rocking today (as usual.) Micah was crazy awesome full of energy today! LOVE IT!
  • I met so many new people today it was unreal. I even met one couple that walked in super late. They told me that they had actually just come from another church service that was so unbearable that they got up, left, and came to TCC. Sad and awesome at the same time!
  • I promise you, we set the world record for tear down at a church this week. I am going to see if Guinness Book of World Records will come out sometime soon, cause we’d be in there.
  • Had some weird requests from people today. Won’t go into them here on the blog.
  • My back is still hurting. Bad. If it doesn’t feel better tomorrow I’ll see the doc I suppose. I’m missing way to much marathon training.
  • I’m already working on my sermon for Sept. 21st. Come on!
  • Apple is making some big announcements Tuesday. Can’t wait!
  • Fusion, the new college aged ministry, kicked off today with pizza, volleyball, and swimming
  • I watched some of “Hole in the Wall” on Fox tonight. BEST game show EVER. See a short video of the original Japanese version here. In the show, teams of three compete against each other facing various barrier walls speeding toward them with weird and wacky cut-out shapes. Each team must contort their bodies individually or in unison to fit through the wall or be swept away into a pool below. Like I said, best gameshow ever!
  • I have a new life goal: to be on HOLE IN THE WALL. YEAH BABY!

FOX, PLEASE…

Longing for some entertainment. FOX, PLEASE move the season 7 date up to immediately. I have never asked you for anything. I’m a sad, sad, un-entertained man, all because of this graphic posted on the Fox website last week, confirming that my worst fears are realities. January 2009…why don’t they just say “HELL.” :)

FOX 24 January 2009

I realize that I have a problem. I still think the show should be called “48″ so that we only have 6 weeks out of the year without new 24 episodes…

I have watched the Season 7 preview hundreds of times. It gives me hope. Tony Almeda, a bad guy? REALLY? If you are a fellow fan, this will wet your appetite…
