At Catalyst, I found out about this new company called Tom’s Shoes. This company has an amazing mission. They want to put shoes on the feet of kids all over the world who don’t have any. So here is how they do it. They sell a pair of shoes to you or me, and then they give one to a kid without any shoes. Simple. No tricky percentages or formulas. One for one. Plain and simple.
I bet founder Blake Mycoskie (why isn’t it called Blakes Shoes?) met much criticism and was made fun of when he decided to start a company that gave away free shoes. But I think it is absolute genius. Why? Because here is what I do know…life is ALL ABOUT PEOPLE. And if I can help a kid that is walking around with bloody feet just by buying certain shoes (I have to buy shoes anyway) then I am all about it.
What if every company did this? Wow. The world wouldn’t have most of the problems it does.
Oh, and just so you know, I tried a pair on and they were very comfy and stylish. Mine are coming in the mail soon. Go get a pair now.
