“Need Guitar for Praise & Worship”

Last weekend, Couper and I saw a man at walmart with a sign that said “Need guitar for praise & worship.” It was unusual enough that I HAD to check it out. I stopped and gave him all the cash I had on me…$12.00.

He thanked me and then said “I really need a guitar.” I didn’t even ask him why. I just told him I’d be back in 15 minutes. He got real serious and asked if he could ride with us and go pray together…of course, I said NOPE. But I assured him that I would be back.

I took off to the house and got him my guitar. I thought I could do it in 15 minutes, but it ended up taking me about an hour for various reasons. Couper kept reminding me that we “have to get the scary man a guitar.”

When we got back to wal-mart, Couper and I walked up to him and he FLIPPED! He grabbed the guitar, grabbed my hand, knelt down and prayed an amazing prayer thanking God for being sufficient and for providing for us.

Then, he asked “Can I play you some songs?” He proceeded to play some Hillsong United, Third Day and something he wrote. He played very well too. His singing was awful…but he could rock the guitar.

He told me his name was Dale and insisted that we take his sign that said “REPENT LINE OF JUDAH” (I think he meant LION of Judah.)

Before leaving, I asked if he needed food or anything else. He responded “No way man. JUST the guitar!”

Then he took off. WOW.

I am only blogging this because I am still trying to process what God wanted to teach me through that. Any ideas? Check out the pics:
