The Women that Make it ALL Happen
There is no way I could be launching Revolution Church without my wife. She gives me strength, wisdom, encouragement, and support in ways I never thought were possible.
Rick Warren has Kay.
My mentor, Cole Phillips has Pam.
Steven Furtick has Holly.
Jud Wilhite has Lori.
And if those guys are anything like me, they’d admit that if they had never met their wives, they’d probably be in jail or dead.
Amber, I am so thankful to be on this ride of life and this incredible adventure of launching a new church with you!
Video Sermons
This past Sunday at The Connection Church we tried something new. We showed a video from the worldwide One Prayer series to our congregation. 35 minutes of Pastor Craig Groeschel on video.
We believe that feedback is the breakfast of champions. So, I’ve been polling people all week on what they thought of watching a sermon on video during a church service. For the most part, people said “it was awesome but I wish he was there.”
My personal opinion is that if its engaging and people are being connected with God then go for it, no matter what the medium is. I don’t watch the news at night and think “man I wish the news reporter was here in the living room telling me about this story.” I’ve been attending church online at Central Christian in Las Vegas every week for several months now and I love it.
What are your thoughts? Do you attend a video venue church or have you ever sat through a sermon on video as a part of a church worship service? Was it engaging? Were lives changed?
Monday Morning Marathon Mind Dump
This mind dump brought to you by zak white on a plane coming home from the
las vegas marathon:
- MAN I am tired! Ran the las vegas half marathon this morning, relaxed all afternoon, and finally got home at 1:45am.
- My results? 13.1 miles in just over 2 hours. Chip time was 02:01:50. Placed 136 out of 365 in my division. Also placed 1715 out of 7890 total racers. Not TOOO shabby.
- My goal was to make it in under 2 hours. If I wouldn’t have taken that 2 minute pit stop I would have reached my goal. Of course, I would have wreaked of urine because I would have wet myself…so I guess the 2 minute stop was worth it.
- There’s probably some kind of DEEP spiritual application here…but I’m to tired to figure it out right now…
- I crossed the finish line with Couper on my shoulders. It was a blast! I’ll have official race pics in a few days. Pics coming soon…
- It was really cool to run down the strip. When else could you run down the middle of one of the busiest streets in America?
- After the race, I gulped down a HUGE ribeye steak and more mashed potatoes than any one man should eat…had to get some serious protein in me and egg whites were not that appealing…
- Also, I got to see TWO incredible magic shows! Mac King and Dirk Arthur. Mac was awesome…one of my magical heroes. Hilarious show.
- While I was running I couldn’t help but wonder what God was up to at TCC. Our church is just so incredible…I have a terrible time being away any Sunday.
- Couper was super tired; today at one point he fell asleep…WHILE RIDING ON MY SHOULDERS!!! Tooooo cute! Again, pics coming soon.
- I did not get to go to Central Christian Church which STINKS. BIG TIME. But, I couldn’t justify paying for the $100 plus cab ride to get there and back…
- The guy next to me is asleep with a book in his hand called ” family driven faith.” I am going to try to take it from him, read some, and put it back before he wakes up…man I get bored on planes!
