Bryan Geiger – the NEXT CATALYST SPEAKER

Bryan Geiger, husband of Frances (our kids ministry director), went with us to Catalyst at his own expense. This guy is a leader and I see some BIG stuff in his future. Upon our return, he sent the letter below to his Connection Group. Man, I FEEL CHALLENGED BY THIS! Bryan is also our Ministry Director…he has a passion to get people connected to our ministries. He just started this job a few weeks ago. Read what he wrote if you dare:

I had a life changing/AWESOME time at Catalyst, We (I) can no longer sit ideally by and hope for our church to grow. We can no longer pretend that our current actions are going to be enough to reach a dying nation. It is time for us to stand up for what we believe and live it. It is time for us to reach out to our community and extend GOD’s glory and redemption. It is here and now that we must draw a line in the sand, Romans 12:6-8 says In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Our Church’s Vision is:

  • Connect with God
  • Connect with Others
  • Connect others with God

I feel that as we move into the Season of “Something So Big”, we have an opportunity to seriously impact our community. That can only be done by EVERYONE taking on a servants heart and LEADING this community in to the future.

We must SERVE somewhere in order for that to happen. Every Ministry, the Church is actively supporting today is in need of help, We MUST find the resources to succeed. In a couple of weeks we are going to have a Service centered around Ministry and Serving.

I challenge each of you to make the time to serve. I know that there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the week to get all the things completed you would like, but true giving of our TIME will be a sacrifice.

I believe in the vision of SOMETHING SO BIG.
I believe it is a commitment worth giving.

The three points of this Campaign are easy to remember.

  • Life long stewardship (for you and your family)
  • Campus with 25 Acres of land and the buildings to support our ministry
  • A Regional Church; meeting the needs of and providing services for the people between Austin and San Antonio

We must own this campaign
We must lead our families first
We must Pray
We must believe
We must walk a Christ like life

We will start with our families
We will add value to our neighbors
We will add value to every person we touch

If we do this I believe that this will be the result

We will develop an environment that transcends age and culture
We will start a cultural shift that impacts every part of our lives
We will raise up a generation of leaders that will take action
We will birth a culture that impacts every generation to come

God bless each of everyone of us. Keep our hearts and minds centered on God, we know that there will be attacks but in his name we will be triumphant.

Let me Learn You…

Ok. The next few days while I am in Atlanta at Catalyst I will be doing some MAJOR mobile blogging. So don’t be surprised by the influx of blog posts and typos. HAHA! Also, one other thing I wanted to point out that is new here at zakwhite.com. If you look to the right you will see a “What is Zak doing” section. That’s a new and pretty cool feature. It’s called “Twitter” and it allows me to add short updates via phone, text message, e-mail, or internet. Crazy what you can do with a cell signal these days.

Check out twitter. Amazing how the internet is connecting people today. If you think this is crazy, you should see iJustine who is lifecasting. She pretty much videos and broadcasts her life LIVE 24-7 via a streaming internet video channel. THAT is insanity. Just had to validate my tweets (a “tweet” is what a twitter update is called.) So check it all out and watch for more coming at ya in the next 3 days. Since I’ll be traveling with Cole some CRAZINESS is BOUND to HAPPEN.

Couper WAS a good sleeper…

Couper WAS a good sleeper until this week when we started trying to get him to sleep in his crib, in the other room.  Now our nights look something like this:

Put the Coupster to bed.  Go downstairs for some mom and dad time.  Hear Couper on monitor.  Argue about how long to wait and see if he stops crying.  Wait somewhere between 23 seconds (Amber) and 5 minutes (me.)  Listen to Amber talk about how it has been 5 minutes (even though I watched the clock and it has only been 23 seconds.)  Go upstairs.  Hold Couper Douper.  Couper sleeps.  Put Couper down.  Couper wakes up immediately.  Pick Couper up again.  Wonder what is happening on Heroes and Monday night football.  Couper falls asleep.  Put him back down.  Walk downstairs.  Get to the last step only to hear Couper WAIL again.  Go back up.  Bring Couper down.  Watch Heroes while Couper falls asleep on my chest.  Take Couper back up an hour later and place him in the crib.  Come downstairs and blog about it.

WOWSERS.  $10 says he wakes up within 15 minutes.

:)   I am not complaining.  Just sharing.  I always tell Couper “I can go ALL night buddy so you might as well just give in.”  It’s true.  I guess this is all just part of being a parent…and I LOVE it!

Sunday Mind Dump

Mind DUMPAGE:

  • Wow. What a day! I woke up at 5am puking my guts out.
  • Made it to the school late and somehow I managed to stay alive through all three services.
  • During tear down I was literally blacking out.
  • Went home and CRASHED. I haven’t felt so sick anytime in my life that I can remember. I still feel kinda bad. Home resting.
  • Amber and Couper are at the pool without me. :( Its the last day that it will be open today.
  • Services went great today! I was supposed to preach but on Monday we decided Cole would instead. I was just so stinking busy that I wasn’t sure I could give the sermon the attention I normally do. After today I’d say we made the right decision. Cole did an amazing job today!
  • It tore me up to have to give away a chance to preach. I really feel that speaking is a HUGE part of my calling in life. But I knew it was what we needed to do.
  • Pumped about going HERE this week. Its something I have wanted to go to since I went into full time ministry. NOT PUMPED about being away from my family.
  • My running schedule stunk this week. I WILL get back on track this week.
  • I am LOVING this. They should have made it a LONG time ago. I ended up getting mine for free…Cole would say that I am a “schemer.” He’s just jealous. I got it by selling my old phone and my old ipod. Ebay rocks!
  • Also, I am set up for mobile blogging now via my iPhone. Everyone who has one and uses WordPress to blog (like I do) said it couldn’t be done. But with some code modification, I got it working.
  • I REALLY need to schedule time to practice my magic each week. Just an hour or so. When I am not doing shows my props just kinda sit there. Not good.  Plus, I have tons of shows coming up.
  • I am planning on giving all my magical paychecks to Something So Big.
  • DO NOT MISS church this coming Sunday.  Don’t DO IT.  BE THERE.  SERIOUSLY.  Got plans?  Cancel them now.  Normally, I  would NEVER say anything like that, so you can see how important it is that you attend this coming Sunday.
