There Goes My Hero

Watch him as he goes.

My dad. Seriously. He is my HERO.

I cannot believe he has run over 10,000 miles. The only reason I am a runner (and still in shape) is because he challenges me. Every. Single. Day.

Check out this video about his running. INCREDIBLE.

Sunday Mind Dump

  • Another ROCKIN’ day at Revolution Church!
  • We had our first ever Partnership Class today. Awesome to see people join the church and commit to being a part of the Revolution family!
  • Volunteers from First Baptist Church of Universal City came to the gym and watched our kiddos while we had Partnership Class. They support us and cheer us on in big ways! LOVE what they are doing for the Kingdom!
  • Yesterday morning, about 17 volunteers from Revolution Church served the community at the Schertz Walk for Life. It was a blast!
  • We kicked off a new message series called “Save the Humans” today. I am PUMPED about this message series!
  • Easter is coming like a freight train. Yikes!
  • Amber went to the GLO Women’s conference at Bay Area Fellowship in Corpus Christi this weekend. Couper and I hung at the house and had a blast! Somehow we made it without burning the house down…we were also able to feed ourselves (with the help of Chick-Fil-A).
  • We Baptized a man today named Abraham. That NEVER gets old! LOVE IT!
  • Time to kick back up with the running this week. I took a week break, after running my first Ultra Marathon (31 miles) last weekend…now I gotta get back at it!
  • I made it through the day with NO espresso…guess I’ll just have to go make one after I type this up. :)
  • AMAZED by the team at Revolution Church! WOW!
  • MORE AMAZED by my wife! DOUBLE WOW!
  • So pumped about Easter! Wait till you see what we have planned!
  • Big week ahead (as usual!)

Racing Mickey Mouse

I am really pumped up about running full marathon (26.2 miles) number two of the season with my dad at Disney World. I just found these videos…looks like it will be a slow race because of the crowded course (24,000 plus runners) and thin streets for the first part at least. So, its probably not going to be a “personal best” race…but I think it will be a BLAST.

Trappstr 28 – Part 10 (Screech, Steve Urkel & Rick Warren)

My new blog buddy Brett Trapp wrote this post on 28 things he’s learned in his 20’s. Since I am so much older and wiser than Brett (3 whopping months) and since I loved it so much, I thought I’d take each of those things and elaborate on them over the next several days.

22. Saved by the Bell? Still a great show. -Trappstr

Not when your name is Zak. All through school I had to hear crud like “Zak Attack!” and “hey, just like saved by the bell!” or “where’s Screech?” C’mon people. Really.

I have to admit though, I was a lot like Zach from Saved By the Bell when I was in high school. I ran my high school the last two years that I was there.

23. Cultivate perseverance. You’ll need it someday. -Trappstr

Speaking of stupid TV shows we grew up with, do you remember “Family Matters?” The one with Steve Urkel?

I’ll never forget a quote from that show: “You can’t go through life quitting everything. If you’re going to achieve anything, you’ve got to stick with something.”

Learning to stick with it has paid off many times in my life. The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places. Don’t park.

If you want to experience what I believe is the greatest breeding ground for perseverance in your life, run a marathon.

24. Learning isn’t confined to your schooling. It is a daily pursuit. -Trappstr

A few years back I was at a conference and I heard Rick Warren say something that has stuck with me. He said, “Leaders are learners. The minute you stop learning, you’ll stop leading.”

There is always something that you can learn from any situation, any book you read and any individual you spend time with. You just have to be willing to learn and ditch your pride.

Brett, I’d love to know who you are learning from, reading, etc…write a post on that!
