I can see it already. “Church pays people to attend service.”
Revolution Church is NOT Lesko.
Let me share the REAL story with you…
Sunday was insane. I am still pumped up on the adrenaline!
Over four months ago I felt led by God to give away all that we had as a church. This was something we had been planning to do for over 4 months, but as developments with a possible building for us suddenly dropped into our lap, I had decided to move the idea up 3 weeks.
Sunday, March 6th we were going to just go for it.
We called the bank and said get ready, we are coming to pickup a lot of cash!
And then, that Friday when we were supposed to get the cash, I chickened out. I’m still not certain why…other than the fact that this was a HUGE risk for us as a church!
I.
Mean.
Huge.
But I chickened out.
Instead that Sunday, I challenged our church to fast for 3 days and pray about the new possible building we might get. And as over 100 people fasted and prayed their guts out for that possible building, I asked God to forgive me for not listening to Him. And I committed to God that I would never again go yellow on something I felt Him leading us to do, no matter how crazy or risky it may be.
So, we stepped back, prayed again and then went with our original plan and yesterday, March 27th, we kicked off a special series and giving initiative called Illuminate. We got crazy with our faith.
We gave away four weeks worth of offerings. Just over $10,000.
See why I chickened out?
We stuck it all in envelopes. Some people got $5. Some $50. Some $100…all the way up to $1,000.
And I instructed everyone to go and simply become a blessing to someone! The rules were simple: bless someone, share the story and you can’t give it back to the church in any way.
So, as you can see, it was a big, crazy, audacious, scary Sunday for me and for us as a church.
But none of that was the huge deal Sunday.
This was the HUGE thing, just in case you missed it:
During the message I confessed to our church that I had chickened out on doing this three weeks ago.
I manned up, got up in front of Revolution and shared a promise that I made to God (and to our church) this week.
I said: “I want to make a promise to you that as the leader of this church that I will NEVER AGAIN chicken out or run from ANYTHING that I believe God has told us to do. IF GOD SAYS GO, WE WILL GO, PERIOD.”
And here is THE best part. During one of the services, when I said that, a man yelled out “THANK YOU!”
WOW.
These are the defining moments that will set us up as a church and literally characterize us for the rest of our lives and beyond!
I am so proud of YOU Revolution!!! And I am PUMPED about whatever God has next!

Hey Revolution!
