Here are some odd search terms and phrases people have typed in lately to find my website, followed by my immediate thoughts upon reading them:

  • “sermon when the shaking stops” – Not sure what I was preaching about!
  • “guitariste zak white” – What country do you have to be from to be a guitariste rather than a guitarist?
  • “i need itunes money” – Me too. Please share a link when you find it.
  • “namethischurch.org” – ITS DOT COMMMMMMMMMM. BAHHHHHH!
  • “anti iphone church” – This better not be real or I am going to go on a rampage.
  • “dude mowery music” – Who else out there actually listens to Dude Mowrey?
  • “winner winner chicken dinner” – Who in the world would google that?
  • “zakwhite.com” – JUST TYPE IT IN THE STINKING ADDRESS BAR. WHY ARE YOU GOOGLING A URL THAT YOU KNOW?

Name this Church

We are trying a creative idea with the new church plant where we build a team of 200 prayer team members before we ever even choose a name. My heart is that this new church would be completely immersed in prayer from day one. That’s why we started building our prayer team first. If you haven’t signed up yet, I’d love for you to be on the prayer team. Check it out here.

Early this morning, we launched our second website: http://www.namethischurch.com

Shoot on over there and check it out. We want to hear your ideas for a church name. We’ve already received a few hundred ideas. Some are good. Some are scary bad.

New Church Name: MacChurch?

Got this suggestion for a church name from a buddy of mine today:

How about this for the name of your new church: MacChurch

“Where It’s Okay To Not Be P-C” or “Where Everyone Has Taken a Bite From The Apple”

Your loga can have three Mac Computers stack like the Connection Church’s blocks.

What’s in a Name?

namethischurchSince we announced that we’ll be starting a new church many of you have been asking what it will be named. The short answer is I have a few ideas and no idea at the same time…

Here is what I do know. We want:

• A name that means something to the community
• A name that fits the area as well as our vision
• A name that will stir up conversations and generate interest

Given what I do know, we have decided to let the community help us choose a name by utilizing 500-1,000 listening surveys and a website, namethischurch.com (coming soon.)

We also want to have a public slogan that:
• speaks to people right where they’re at in life
• raises curiosity
• builds on our church name

Our slogan will be decided on after we choose a name. A slogan example that we like is “A church where its ok to not be ok.”

What name ideas and slogans would you suggest?
