You Just Wait…It Gets Better

I was on a 14 mile marathon training run last week very early in the morning. The sun wasn’t even out yet. A couple of nights before Amber and I ate at the Tower of the Americas for a much needed date night. We had a blast and wrapped up our date by seeing the sunset from 750 feet above San Antonio. It was beautiful. I was reminded of God’s beauty in creation that night. Here is a sunset panorama I snapped with the trusty iphone:

Back to the run…I was looking forward to watching the sunrise as I ran. Just as the sun began to break the horizon, a doe ran right in front of me. She was so close that I could have slapped her back as she went by, no joke…I would have smacked into her if I hadn’t seen her. And she was in no hurry.

It felt like God was saying to me “you’re waiting for the sunrise. You’ve seen tons of sunrises. I have something even better…you just wait.”

I spent the rest of my run thinking about Heaven. And all I got is this: we have NO IDEA how incredible its going to be. You just wait…it gets better.

Kiddos and Logos

We have some absolutely incredible and dedicated churches from our area partnering with us as we launch Revolution Church. A few days ago I got a phone call that the kiddos from the Genesis Church Vacation Bible School had raised $171 to go towards our logo (which we had no money for.)

INCREDIBLE. And yes, I said the VBS kiddos are the ones who raised the money. Crazy.

It FLOORED me. I cried after I got off of the phone.

Then, Pastor Edward Beltran from Genesis sent me the pics below of the kids that gave the money and I was even more blown away. No doubt, GOD is at work!

We could all learn a lot from the children in our lives if we would just stop and watch them. I know God has taught me more through Couper (my two year old son) than just about anybody on this Earth.

To Genesis Church, Pastor Edward, and the kiddos, THANK YOU! If I could meet each of you I’d give each of you a big hug and take you all out for ice cream!

Cadillacs and My Friend Scott

I used to drive a 1964 Cadillac Eldorado that was black with full flames. It was a beast. When I had it, a bunch of kids in my youth group at the time nicknamed me “CadillacZak.” The name has stuck ever since. In honor of my love for classic caddys, I give you a new blog design, complete with a caddy.

Random fact: my son Couper is named after the Coupe DeVille. Hence the odd spelling. We have car names picked out for all future kids too.

Thanks to my buddy Scott Magdalein at Updatable for the help. If you haven’t checked out what Scott does, you need to. Personally, I believe he’s got THE BEST thing going for churches that need to establish a web presence. The prices are right and his work is incredible. He’s also been a part of developing several iPhone apps and best of all leads worship at a local church all while wearing the coolest, metro hats ever. :)

Scott’s team also designed www.namethischurch.com and is currently working on our brand spanking new website and church logo…STELLAR!
