- My wife is INCREDIBLE. Even more than I thought.
- Someone will always have to back out last minute of a key role. Sometimes its for the right reasons, sometimes for the wrong reasons. But have a plan because it will happen.
- Church planting is hard. Its stressful. Expect the stress, learn how to deal with it, and go for it. Don’t sit there and whine about how stressful your job is. You have been warned.
- The internet is one of the most powerful tools we have in ministry.
- The internet is also the devil.
- Get a cell phone plan with lots of minutes.
- Send handwritten letters if possible, not emails.
- If you do send typed out form letters, handwrite a P.S. at the bottom that makes it personal.
- Keep good notes on everyone you meet and every conversation you have.
- Send thank you cards to everyone for everything.
- Network network network. Its amazing what God has done through random people just because I walked over and met them.
- Office out of the community. Starbucks is ministry central in my world.
- Proof every print piece you do. Then have 15 other people proof it. Then proof it again. Then have your 3rd grade teacher take a look at it. When she’s done proof it once more…seriously though get a good editor / proofreader for all print pieces.
- Spend the extra $50 to get the nicer equipment every time that you can. You’ll save tons of money over a few years. It only takes a couple of the cheaper $35 pieces of equipment breaking to cost you more.
- Get a coach that coaches HARD. And then, listen to him when the going gets tough.
- Fundraising is a PRIMARY role of a church planter. And its very hard to do.

What a Weekend! (in Pictures)
Wow! What a weekend!
Note: all photos were taken by our official photographer, Sam White. She’s an amazing person, and incredible photographer, and the best sister in the world. You can hit her up HERE for your photo needs. These are raw photos. No tricky editing…
On Friday and Saturday we gave out over 2,000 bags of cotton candy and about 4,000 invites to our first service. Who would have thought sugaring up the city could be such a good outreach? Check it out:
Then, we had our first service ever on Sunday. Here are some pics from that:
