Saturday Night Shots

Haven’t done this in a while…

  • PUMPED about Revolution Church tomorrow! We are talking about S-E-X. Gonna be fun. DON’T MISS IT!
  • PUMPED about picking up my family tomorrow. Been away for a week. I. Am. A. Mess.
  • PUMPED because my brother asked me to be a groomsman in his wedding. Greatest honor ever!
  • PUMPED about some cool stuff on the horizon at Revolution!
  • NOT PUMPED that our intern is almost done with his internship. Working on an “ongoing” intern program now so that we can always be paying it forward.
  • NOT PUMPED about Ebay. Seriously, its TRASH. Nobody will pay for anything I listed on there. Tragic.

Living However the Hell You Want

We can’t meet Jesus and stay the same. There is a change! The change is not from notorious sinner to being a perfect little angel all the time…but when we meet Jesus we CHANGE.

You can’t pray a prayer, say you met Jesus, leave the church and live however the hell you want to live.

Some of you are going “that makes me uncomfortable.” That might be your biggest problem, that you think the church is here to make you comfortable.

One of the problems in the church is that we’ve gotten so stinking comfortable that we have forgotten to preach the Gospel. We are so concerned about being comfortable that we are sitting in our own pew and the world around us is dying.

Jesus got uncomfortable on the cross for us and its time that we got uncomfortable with how comfortable we are so that we can begin to reach the WORLD.

Somebody had BETTER amen this post…

Fire Insurance

I’ll never forget, when I first became a Christian the deacons at my church said “now you got your fire insurance!”

That bugged me. I never could figure out why until later in life. It bugs me because it conveys the idea of “I prayed the prayer, got my fire insurance, but now I do whatever I want.”

Jesus said when we meet him there will be a change! We cannot meet Jesus and stay the same!

You can pray the prayer all day long and still not know Jesus, because its not about a prayer. It is about confessing that Jesus is your ONLY chance. Its about confessing that He is your LORD and SAVIOR. Its about believing that He died on the cross but still conquered death. Its about living everyday in a relationship with Him because you love Him.

What do you do with an insurance policy? You pay for it and stick it in your filing cabinet and hope that you never need it again. The only time you mess with it or get it out to look at it is if something bad happens.

And THAT just doesn’t sound like a relationship with Christ to me.

Five Questions to Ask…Unless You’re Scared of God!

Time off is important. This last week I got to spend some much needed time off from preaching and from Revolution. During that time off, I focused on five questions. And God jacked my world up. Get ready Revolution!

Here are the five questions:

  1. Have I done everything in my power to make sure my team is living without any unconfessed sin?
  2. What faith risk is God calling me to take?
  3. Am I doing ministry from memory or from fresh direction from God?
  4. Am I living with delayed obedience toward God in any area of my leadership?
  5. Is there a person who needs to be moved to another role or removed altogether; one that I am avoiding?
