Kerry Shook “Stole” from Revolution

I got an awesome card in the mail today from Fellowship of the Woodlands, an incredible church in the Houston, TX area. Pastor Kerry Shook has been a huge inspiration and hero in my life. From time to time, we’ll make the drive over to the woodlands to check out what is going on at fellowship.

On the mailer, I noticed they have a new snazzy logo. No doubt they got the idea from Revolution Church.

I always knew we were high class. Pastor Kerry, I’ll let it slide this time.

(Disclaimer: This whole post is me joking around. I LOVE Fellowship of the Woodlands. They have poured into my life and ministry!)

All Leaders Should Run a Marathon

I’m dead serious…

The 16 weeks of intense training and the discipline required are outstanding leadership training.

Running 26.2 miles…

is not for the weary
is not for those who give up easily
will HURT.
will draw blood.
requires passion, desire, and increased energy.
requires prayer. (Ok, so maybe a marathon doesn’t require prayer, but it sure makes it easier. )
takes patience and a step at a time mentality.
takes new habits.
takes someone at least a little crazy.
means you have to give consistent effort.
means you do things that hardly anyone else is willing to do.
is one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do.
has a HUGE payoff.
is easier when you listen and learn always.

And leadership is just about the same.

Social Media

A big part of our strategy is social media (blogs, facebook, twitter, youtube, etc).

Sometimes, I get asked, “Zak, why do you use facebook and twitter so much?” Or, people ask me why I have invested time in social media.

Simple. Jesus went where the people who needed him most were. And right now, they use social media. Not convinced? Check out the short video below. Pastors, also, read this article.

Crazy GOD Days

Ever had one of those days where crazy GOD things just kept happening?

I had one last week.

I was meeting with my buddy John Atkinson and sharing with him some of my plan to raise some startup funds for Revolution Church. Somehow we got on the topic of how we need a camera. My phone rang and I answered it. It was a friend and pastor, John Church, that wasn’t even on my possibilities list saying that Generations Church wanted to send us $1,000 to help with startup money. Incredible!

I thanked John and got off the phone. As I am hanging up the phone, John Atkinson pulls a camera out of his bag and says, “here.” And right there in Starbucks he just gave me his own personal camera so that Revolution Church could do some videos.

And that’s only two of the things that happened that day.

Just sharing to say this. G-O-D is GOOD.
