Sunday Mind Dump

  • FIRST OFF, before ANYTHING ELSE. Let me just say this: The band today at The Connection Church literally melted my stinking face off. It was insanity. I cannot believe the talent that God continues to send us!
  • Cole’s sermon update on Something So Big rocked. It was awesome to re-issue the dream! I am pumped up that I get to be a part of a church dreaming dreams so big that they are destined to fail if God is not the center piece of them.
  • Even though it was labor day weekend, we still had tons of people today and another HUGE group of first timers. Awesome.
  • This evening, I ran the Nike Plus Human Race 10K. My clock time was 56 minutes. I’m pretty sure my actual chip time will be about 54 minutes. I almost caught up with Lance Armstrong. He was about 30 yards in front of me at one point.
  • At the end of the race they had these cold towels. They were stinking freezing, which was awesome. I literally felt my toes shake when I slapped the towel on my neck. Then, I went and got another and did it all over again.
  • Crazy, but I’m getting up in the morning to run with my dad before he leaves town.
  • Gotta get some major house work done tomorrow. Manly stuff. :)
  • I can’t believe that we start two services in just 7 days. WOW!
  • And last, I need you to pray for me. I found out this morning that a large part of our mailer did not get delivered because of a permit renewal problem. Pray that we’ll get the issue resolved first thing Tuesday morning and pray that I don’t punch any postal workers. Just kidding. :)

Real Lives Changed

We started a new blog not to long ago that has some cool, real life stories that people have sent us since Something So Big.  When I start feeling burnt out, I just log on and read the stuff people have sent in.  It’s refreshing to hear about the life change that God is producing through our church.  And it is absolutely incredible to see you all FIRED UP for JESUS!

So if you need a boost, check it out!

Or, maybe you have a story of your own.  Share it with us HERE.

Sunday Mind Dump

Some thoughts after an amazing Sunday…

  • Did you see our bass player today? That was Sergio Andrade. Sergio was co-founder of a band you might have heard of before…LIFEHOUSE!!! Can you believe that? THAT is the quality of musicians we have at TCC every week.
  • To brag on the band some more, most people don’t know that our lead guitarist, Jacob Hildebrand, has toured with HUGE stars such as George Strait, Bonnie Raitt, Miranda Lambert, and more…
  • One more time…not to mention that Brady Muckelroy, our regular bass player, is one of the BEST bass players anywhere on Earth…in fact, he is so incredible sometimes I wonder if he even is from Earth…
  • We are finished with the Something So BIG message series. It has been an incredible ride! I feel like God has grown me more in the last 50 days than ever before! However, Something So Big is FAR from over…
  • BY THE WAY, if you missed service today, you missed the BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT EVER FOR TCC!!! Starting April 20th, 2008 we will be meeting every week at the Performing Arts Center!!! WAAAAHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! MAN I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO SHARE THAT!!!
  • THE PACCCC!!! YESSSS!!!
  • Ok, enough screaming. On a crummy note, my family is in Lubbock and I am here all alone. I hate being away from Amber and Couper big time. It stinks.
  • Another thing about today. It was “First Fruits Sunday.” Today was the day we officially started bringing our Something So BIG commitments to God. It was also supposed to be our “first and best” offering. Amber and I worked our tails off to give as much money as we possibly could to the church today. It was one of the biggest challenges of my life, but we did it. And, it feels GOOD to know that I did EXACTLY what God challenged me to do. More on this later in the week.
  • The marathon is coming FAST. I have always hated watches, clocks, and time. Look at this:mtimer1.jpg
  • That timer is like a big monster following me around…
  • OH, you still have a little time to play the Marathon Music game and help me run my marathon.  I got the prize yesterday…pretty cool!
  • Next week we will be doing a Thanksgiving Message called “Think Thank.” It will be the first time I have taught in about 3 months and I AM READY!
  • I can’t wait to see my family!
  • I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for TCC!

Sunday Mind Dump

Mind Dump:

  • Today at The Connection Church was INCREDIBLE!
  • Today at The Connection Church was STINKY…because my family was gone.  :)
  • Cole’s message and announcements about our Something So Big commitments today  were absolutely amazing.  I have been listening to Cole’s sermon longer than just about anyone at TCC and I will say this:  The guy is FULL ON.  And he has been this ENTIRE SERIES.  If you have missed any of the messages you absolutely MUST go back and listen to the ones you missed because I have never heard anything so inspiring and motivating.
  • Our commitments as a church to Something So Big totaled up to $777,227…and that’s not counting some assets and percentages that people gave.  This blew me away for several reasons…more on that later this week.
  • Did you read my 3 part series blog this past week titled “Things Have Changed?”  If not, you should…  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.
  • I thought it would stink to be back  at the school this week (after being at The PAC last week) but it ROCKED!
  • I can’t explain it very well, but MAN GOD is doing some INCREDIBLE STUFF right now!
  • I moved 35,000 easter eggs out of my garage this week with Kristi’s husband, Shep.  My garage looks like it could hold 5 cars now!
  • BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG COOL COOL COOL COOL AWESOME AMAZING news about TCC this week…more to come as soon as we iron out the details…
  • We finished planning out our Christmas series and let me just say one thing:  INVITE EVERYONE you see starting NOW.  This series is going to be saaaaaweeeeettt!  It’s called “Unwrapped.”
  • I am a jinx.  I went to see my brother’s team play (he’s a coach) and they had a perfect record for the season.  The team they were playing for the last game of the season had a 2 and 7 record…in other words, they stunk.  But guess what?  They beat my brother’s team, ripping away their flawless season.  It’s always those stinking nobody teams that rip the glory away from you in sports.  Of course, it’s probably a good thing to have one loss like that right?  It keeps you humble and a little more down to Earth…
  • When Amber is gone, I don’t sleep well.  And now that we have Couper, when they are both gone, I sleep even less and crummier (“crummier”???).  I calculated a total of about 7 hours of sleep in the last 3 nights.  That’s B-A-D.  I am so glad that they’ll be home soon…
  • I LOVE my family!
  • AMBER AND COUPER ARE HOME!!!  GOTTA GO!!!
