Free Dove “Galindo”

A while back Cole spoke on peace and used a Dove as an illustration during a sermon. I thought I would keep the dove and work it into my magic act. That was a dumb idea since we have a new baby…needless to say, the dove doesn’t get much attention.

So, rather than have it sit there and wither away, I would love for someone to take him home and enjoy him. For free. His name is Galindo (named after a magician I like). He makes beautiful soft cooing noises (not much though) and is incredibly peaceful. He’s about a year old and doesn’t really fly. You can take him out of the cage daily and he’ll stay seated on top. If you don’t know about dove:

they don’t bite. ever.
Quiet.
Peaceful.
Easy to take care of.
Live about 10-15 years.

My Porn Star Run In

This past Monday I was at an IHOP in Austin to meet with some people I really admire and look up to (read about that here.) I got there really early and they were a little late, which gave me some time to finish reading through the book of Proverbs.

There weren’t a lot of people in there. It was early. But I did notice two blond women and a short overweight guy that had come in. I kept reading.

Then, as we were wrapping up our meeting, our waiter comes over and says, “the tall blond over there says she knows you.” I re-assured him that I had no idea who she was and he kindly passed the message along.

As they left IHOP, our waiter brought me a note (picture below.) We read it together and this is where it got interesting…I joked that she was “probably a porn star with my luck” and quickly tried to get our conversation back on track as I was 100% enthralled in my meeting.

But, stinking Anne said, “Let’s google her right now!” She pulls out her phone and says “she’s either a porn star or a Christian blogger.” My response, “God I hope shes a Christian blogger.”

According to my wife and Anne’s research, she wasn’t the Christian blogger.

Dang it.

I’m still not sure why this woman did this. Does she just get her kicks out of inviting guys to see her naked on the internet? Did she see that I was reading the Bible and hates God so much that she just had to mess with me? Read the note. What do you think?

Join with me in praying for this woman. I think she just needs Jesus in her life…

Best Church T-shirt EVER?

Just got out new T-shirts in yesterday and let me say this…these are the best T-shirts any Church has ever done. THEY ROCK.

Sunday Mind Dump

The band was UH-MAZE-ING today. WOW!
Cole did a great job with the sermon today. I love sermons about the Great Commandment because they are so easy to memorize. If you didn’t catch the purpose of today it was this: LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS. It really is that easy…
We were down from last Sunday by 145 people. Ouch. Daylight Saving Time plus the fact that it is Spring Break equals el sucko.
I’m all pumped up about our series that we’ll be starting on Easter Sunday. It’s called GOOGLE. And, it will be THE BEST series we’ve ever done!
Had lunch with the band today. I love those guys. I really enjoyed my conversation with Emily Hildebrand, our lead guitarist, Jacob Hildebrand’s wife. She’s a blast to chat with.
Can you believe Easter is only two Sundays away? MAN that seems early…
Cole made a very important point today: on Easter Sunday, we need YOU to go to the early, 9:00am service. It’s not just a little move, it is a strategic way for you to help us reach people for Jesus. You have two weeks notice. Come see us at 9:00am on Easter Sunday, March 23rd! And, bring a friend!
Can’t wait to meet Terry Storch and Anne Jackson in the morning for breakfast! Oh, and Bobby Gruenewald. These people are all bloggers, pastors, church staff, innovators, etc that I look up to.
As I type this mind dump, I am also on chat with Startlogic (our web host) tech support. My mortal enemies. I have logged a good 20 hours with these guys over the last month. What is the last straw, really? I should have dropped them foreverevereverever ago. Now I am in too deep…
While we are on the topic of companies, Starbucks has become my new obsession.
This is the coolest new innovation on the web that I am using. It is from one of my favorite companies, 37signals. You should try it.
