Church Websites Make Me Cringe…

It happens EVERY week. I somehow come across a church website that makes me cringe. This week, Cole showed me one that literally made me puke in my mouth a little.

Recently, the guys at ChurchMarketingsucks.com completed an online poll that confirmed that 78 percent of respondents didn’t think their church Web site was worth bragging about. That is SAD. In a day where web presence is so crucial, we the church ought to be leading the way with great websites.

Why is this? I want your thoughts. Why do the majority of church websites stink so bad?

Also, what are the good church websites out there? Share your links.

A few links that will help you if you know that you have a terrible church website:

At NewSpring Church All Day

I’m at NewSpring Church all day for Unleash…virtually.

Man, you gotta love the internet. For us to go to this conference it would have cost several thousand dollars that we don’t have. But now, I can join in for free. Thanks NewSpring for being all about the Kingdom!

Killing Cockroaches

Book 3 of my 2009 Reading List was “Killing Cockroaches” By Tony Morgan.

(Click here for a quick summary)

Killing Cockroaches is an absolute must read for any Church leader. If you read Seth Godin’s “Tribes” and enjoyed it’s mini-chapter format, you’ll love this book. Its perfect for someone like me who thinks all books should be less than 120 pages and have the fluff cut out. Killing Cockroaches has NO fluff.

Tony’s style of writing is quick and to the point. Never before has there been such a good book for church systems and strategies.

The book is an easy read; you’ll want to keep a copy on your shelf as a sort of church systems reference guide. There is no doubt that I’ll be referring back to Killing Cockroaches for years to come.

Bottom line: Read this book if you want to be challenged to stop wasting time on different things and to think more creatively on others.

And, whatever you do, stop killing cockroaches. God has great plans for you!
