Dead Day

Have you ever thought that the first Christ followers only knew one thing when Jesus died on the cross; that is, that He was dead.

We jump ahead to the Resurrection too fast. If Jesus had been crucified yesterday on Good Friday, we would only know one thing right now – that Jesus is dead. We would only know the bloody, messy cross. We would be focused on the fact that He paid a serious price for our sin.

Imagine the sense of lost hope that those first Christ followers must have felt.

And then, three days later…the stone was rolled to the side. The tomb was empty. His body gone. Word spread fast that He had risen.

Can you believe what that experience must have been like? MAN!

Just a simple observation that has completely changed the posture with which I celebrate Easter and Holy Week. Right now, Jesus is dead. We only have the cross to thank Him for.

Tomorrow, on Easter Sunday, we will celebrate His conquering death!

Thank you Jesus forĀ the cross! Don’t let us EVER forget!

24 Hours of Prayer

Tonight at 6:30pm, Revolution Church will pray for 24 hours straight. I will personally pray for 5 of those 24 hours.

Below are some specific things that we will be praying for. I would be honored to have you pray with us for an hour during that 24 hour stretch. Click here to sign up and you will receive our official 24 hour prayer guide.

A few things we will be praying for:

  • Pray for our teams to utilize their gifts at full throttle, to impact lives of children, and the entire church family.
  • Pray for me, as the pastor of Revolution, to deliver God’s word in an uncompromising and compelling way, that people would be saved and changed.
  • Pray for a bold proclamation of truth mixed with bold love and grace this weekend.
  • Pray for nothing short of miracles to happen in the hearts of people this weekend.
  • Pray for your own needs as well, for God to bring you victory in your own struggles.

A SAD HAPPY Day

Today is Couper’s third birthday! I cannot believe that my son is three already. Time ticks away much too fast. We are going to have a blast and celebrate all day long! I want to kick it off by blogging a quick trip down memory lane…

You were born 5 weeks early and spent the first 8 days of your life in the hospital. It was scary for Momma and Da-O, but thousands of people were praying for you and God healed you!

Before we knew it, you were home and HAPPY! We cuddled a LOT!

I had a blast hanging out with you (and I still do!) I’ll never forget holding you, listening to you coo and make all those fun baby noises. Your head was kind of a funny shape because they delivered you with suction. I still can’t believe how TINY you were!

You immediately LOVED all of your grandparents. Here you are with “Shug.” You stuck your tongue out for about 22 hours each day.

This is the first time you ever made the sad face. I’ll never forget it. You could stick that lip WAAAAAYYYY out!

I apologize for letting your Momma dress you up like a chicken. You were cute, but you are the furthest thing from a chicken I’ve ever seen. I can’t ever remember meeting such a courageous little boy! Always remember this: Overalls are a sin.

I took you to your first Baseball game as soon as possible. You clapped and giggled the entire game. It was a BLAST! We’ve got many many more games to go to together!

You learned this from me. Shhhhhh…don’t tell Momma. I have a lot more bad stuff to teach you.

Here is another shot from a baseball game we went to with Uncle Ty. You are the cutest stinking kid in the WORLD.

This is from our first trip to the circus. It was a BLAST…but honestly, I think Momma had more fun that you and I put together.

For a while, you got kind of chunky because you kept eating massive amounts of pork. Hilarious!

I love you buddy! Happy third birthday!!!

What You Don’t Know…

…is that I love Mariachi music. I don’t just like it, I love it…with a passion. I secretly want to be in a Mariachi band, wear one of those amazing outfits and walk around playing in the streets of San Antonio. I’m a little busy right now…but one day…

(Just to keep the record straight, I am dead serious. This is NO joke.)

What do I not know about you?
